Any doctor can prescribe it, there aren't any restrictions on it, from what I can find. However, there are prescribing parameters, it should only be prescribed for obese patience that also have one weight related complication, such as high blood pressure or diabetes.

Side effects to the medication may include nausea, headache, nausea and constipation.

Do you currently have a doctor that you see regularly? If so, you may want to ask them about it.
