What Kind Of Withdrawals Will I Have When I Stop Suboxone (Page 2)
Updatedwhat kind of withdrawals will i have when I stop taking Suboxone?
Ozwell I'm completely moved by your post. I as well have been an intense drug user since I was fourteen and am now 27. I would stop one just to start another because I always felt that i needed something. I have a degree and an amazing supportive family and can hold a decent job. Well now I have a 2 and a half year old daughter and if it wasn't for her id being doing all the drugs I currently do but on a much more hard core level. I love her and i love my family but I have done drugs so long I can't imagine a life without them. I would greatly appreciate if you took some time out to tell me more about your story and to see if you can give me any advice or lead me in the right direction to once and for all stop being selfish and put my friends family my health and happiness and most of all my precious daughter who only has me to count on. {edited for privacy}. And this message goes out to anyone with advice or words of encouragement. Please no put downs because I'm at the point where with the right help advice and support I think i can finally once and for all fight this battle of addiction without giving in to temptation.
I was on 8mg of subs everyday for 6 months.. I had 2 hard weeks of WD and about another month to feel like a functioning member of society. I would rather come off 200+mg of Oxy cold turkey then cold turkey off subs. It was horrible I promise you it's the devil. I thought it was some miracle drug when I first got on it... If it seems too good to be true it probably is. Don't take for more then 4 weeks... Good luck
U r 100% correct!! All doctors use their authority 2 their own benefit when it comes 2 controlled substances. They r way out of line. So, when it happens 2 me, i report them 2 the state medical board. Every single complaint made against them goes on permanent record & stays w/ that doctor 4 their whole entire career. It is alot of paperwork 4 u 2 fill out, but then that doc has 2 be investigated & go threw a bunch of bulls*** w/ the state & then the state monitors every single prescription that doc writes. So, basically what ur doin is f***in up the next @ least 1yr of that doctors life!! Which, in my opinion they really deserve!!
Christian it could be that if you are what is considered a 'functioning addict' that you are no addict at all but could have EDS Edogenous deficient syndrome--not enough natural opiates in your brain so u get them externally Look up the article Ignorance Kills and much love you
My suboxone dr. decided after 18 months of taking subs that he did not approve of my np psycologist and threatened constantly to take take my suboxones away. Never failed a U/A. So every psychiatric dr. I called either wanted me to become inpatient or they wanted 3-4 hundred dollars. So now i need a new suboxone dr.
This thread has been inactive for too long so I will give you an update on my progress after being on Suboxone for five years and off now for eighteen months. First of all I must state the truth to many people who continue to fool themselves about Suboxone not being a narcotic. If you are taking Suboxone you are NOT clean. It is so strong without the naloxone in it you would be in a world of trouble. They have chemically engineered it so it lacks the antagonist which gives one the euphoric feeling. It also differs from the other opioids in that it is stored in your body fat making the withdrawals longer in addition to the longer half life of the drug.
During the period I was on Suboxone my brain stem was damaged leaving me with Parethesia. I do not feel normal and have consulted with one of the top five pain management Doctors in the world at the University of Michigan. He told me it will take a minimum of two years to feel better if I ever do get over the lingering results and after effects of the drug.
This drug is being prescribed as a forever pain control medication. It Is highly addictive and damn near impossible to get off. If you go on it make it for a short duration like one or two weeks max. Had I known six years ago what I know today about this drug I would have never taken it. If you are going to take Suboxone to get off of opiates I suggest you first look into Kratom.
Overall I have nothing positive to say about Suboxone. It is the DEVIL of all drugs and you should study it and read every blog available before you try it. At first you think it is a miracle only to find out you are addicted to the worst addictive drug made. There are other threads on this Medschat site about the issues in getting off of Suboxone. One of the threads has over 950 responses. Find it and start reading them. The information is really good and very helpful. Good Luck!
Im ready to quit to Im just so scared of the wd. I also have a loving and supporting family. Im ready to release the chokehold the devil has on me.
I stopped taking suboxon a few times. Yeah I was sick but hell it's not that bad. Can't sleep is the worst part. After two weeks it's over. After 6 days you don't even feel that bad. I don't think it's as bad as y'all are putting on
I'll be straight and honest with you about suboxone. DO NOT TAPER OFF SUBOXONE even if your doctor recommends it they just want the income from selling you the drugs. I'm a Biochemist and I was an opiate addict for 10 years and have been through all this a few times after a couple of relapses due to the prolonged withdrawal from tapering off the drug.
Suboxone binds to the MU receptors in the brain and it holds the receptor for 72hrs. This means if your tapering your dose is never really lowering as you are topping up the receptor ever day making your withdrawal last weeks when it can be over in as little as 6 -7 days apart from the PAWS but we won't GI there yet.
This is how I beat the drug and have helped many others do the same. Whatever dose you are on be it 16mg or 12 etc just stop cold turkey I know it sounds scary as hell but trust me you will be thankful you did after the first 5 days are over. Do not use anything to try and treat the symptoms of the withdrawal no narcotics no benzo no sleeping aids. If you want this to be over as quickly as possible stay away from them and also stay away from caffeine for the first 4 days as it will intensify the RLS.
You can use ibuprofen for the cold sweats as it drastically lowers your core temp if taken in 600mg doses but only do this twice a day once in the morning and once at night.
The first 4 days is going to suck really really suck but once you hit night five and you go to sleep expecting another horrid night of rls you will be pleasantly surprised that it hasn't set in.
Sorry for the long post and I hope this helps anyone out there trying to get off this. In short DO not taper even if your doc tries to push you into it. Stay away from all narcotic drugs or drugs that can be habit-forming no benzo no opiates no codeine only take ibuprofen for the fever and sweats and stay away from caffeine and in 4-6 days you will be over the worst it doesn't have to last weeks or months as I myself have even experienced because you tapered SUBOXONE is not a drug that can be tapered because of the high half-life and the way it binds to the MU receptors as when you start withdrawing while tapering your brain is fighting the MU receptor to take back control, but if you taper the suboxone overpowers your brains chemicals and causes the withdrawal to last longer.
Re: Joe (# 5)
No wonder that drop in 10 days is ridiculously to fast your brain can compensate .05mg per week and the best way for such small increments is liquid compound pharmacies
Re: Verwon (# 1)
What is the point of weaning off morphine for pain and taking suboxone instead? They are both narcotics and will cause withdrawal when stopped. Someone explain the advantage to that please.
Re: nutty (# 2)
Methadone clinic is the last stop is this living hell. Try to taper...I got off of the box and ended up in so much pain but I'm a chronic pain patient who cannot even stand up in the shower long enough to take a shower without severe pain. Drs have ruined my life called me an addict when I am not one. Taper plz and if your not in pain baby, never touch another opiate again. Bless you
Re: Matty (# 29)
Thank you for your post! I've been tapering off subs. For only two weeks or so and I'm going cold turkey tomorrow. I'm very anxious and I've had five different cancers and countless surgeries and treatments so I can be strong for sure! I ain't gonna lie I'm so not looking forward to the hot cold, endless trips to the bathroom, and most of all the pain and sleepless nights!! But I did cold turkey with percocet and other opioids and I was abusing and on them for 10 year's. After a week I was feeling normal. And after all that I'm still afraid of what the next however long it will be until I'm feeling normal or even almost normal again! I'm looking forward to being free of a substance that controlled me for years now! Good luck to Everyone who is on the same journey that I am! I'll pray for you ????
Re: resolution 2128 (# 4)
Yes and no. If you just take them for 7 days. Taper down starting day 2. You'll only .5 or .25 mg of suboxone because hydrostatic are a fairly light opiate. Then you should be fine. Although, you will still experience PAWS for a few weeks or longer depending on how long and how much you are taking. Make sure to wait atleast 12 hours after your last hydro tho. You don't want to put yourself into precipitated precipitated withdraw.
