What Exactly Does Suboxone Do? Is It Addicitive? (Page 14) (Top voted first)

i have a friend who desperately wants to get off of methadone and pain pills. will suboxone work? is it addicitive too? if someone can please help me that would be great! also is it very expensive, that's what i've heard.

T Bone, I can't take suboxone either. I am a heroin addict from an early age, I tried the suboxone and it made me very ill. I stuck with it for 2 weeks, then went on methadone maintenance and I have been clean since July 2, 2002. I have been on merthadone since Jan 2001, and I am doing great

Im a current methadone patient....Suboxone has an antagonist in it which means if you take any other opiate type pain killer,it instantly throws you into full blown withdrawals....So its good to take if your tryin to stop the pain pill route....It comes in pill form or in a strip that dissolves under your tongue....The pills are expensive but the strips are inexpensive....Wait a minimum of 24-48 hours b4 taking suboxone if your currently taking another opiate....Everybodys different,but I prefer the pain relief from methadone vs the subs

Suboxone will only block other opiates. Suboxone does not make you sleepy, actually it makes you alert. I have been on the program for many months and if she is getting them from a clinic they should be giving her a drug panel every time she goes in and if she's a minor you can access her files from them if your a legal guardian. If not, buy a U/A kit from Walmart and ask her to prove her word to you. You're in a tough spot but it's great to hear how much you care. I wish you the best of luck in your fight. I have done them all and am willing to help you if I can with advice.

I have been on Boxone for two & a half years. I have reduced my dosage as low as I want to go, as it does take the edge off the pain. After going on a 100mg. to 0 & homelessI came home,& my friend, & MD.saved my life, & went to the class,ASAP. I have come a long ways,But He seems to forget that this all started after my many accidents, & injuries.
Plus the drug addict label that is required, then you will always have to answer those questions on driver lisence,pass port ect.
It works well &is much easier to kick. You will still get sick if you don't do it rite. follow the directions as it is not a pain med. Dust

Iam just so really interested in understanding the two
Methadone stops the cravings but in the same since so does suboxone my husband was on mdone then went to suboxone these drugs are both of the same , ur merely just doing a trade off for one to another and is these drugs used for addicts or are these drugs used to supposedly treat people that are not drug addicts but to treat people with real problems like having been thrown from a car from an accident that caused broke back in several places and broken neck and from that having pain is bare able just taking ibrophen and there's no high there so are people hoping to stil get a fix and feel their "high" and conviently go to these clinics that have huge lines waiting to do just that. Cause believe me u can get off all drugs and simply live a wonderful life and not need a fix from mdone or suboxone . Greater is he that lives inside of me than he that is of this world. Gods word is my strength and his word is my light in any darkness in my pathway

I have been taking Suboxone for 30 days. I was never told that it was also addictive. My doctor advised me via telephone that he was no longer prescribing suboxone to me because I missed one mtg. I am scared as hell regarding the with drawl effects. I take 8mg per day. any suggestions.

I think people are painting to rosey a picture. Although sub is not as hard to kick as methadone it is no cake walk. My opinion is that it is better than methadone but keep in mind that you still will be addicted. I have been weening off from 24 millagrams and the way my doc told me to do it is -2mgs then stay there for two weeks and so on. but then it gets a little different when you are really low. A lot of docs dont understand how long it takes to kick the stuff.
