a random drug test yielded a positive test for methadone. If you are not taking methadone, how could that be?

I tested positive for methadone to. The only other pill I had taken was melatonin. Can any one explain???

hello.its possible ranitidine can make false positive for methadone.i failed my urine test,i take ranitidine 10 hours before test.anyone can help me? 3 month again i will take the test again for getting job.thankyou

I am prescribed subutex for addiction and today at my Dr. Appt I tested positive for methadone. I haven't taken methadone in years. I am on an antibiotic and nerontin besides subutex. What would cause me to get a false positive for methadone? I do also occasionally take Tylenol pm also.

Me too. I am livid. Being called a liar by ur doctor. Without any recourse to prove your innocence. I dont know what to do. Ive been on pain meds morphine for 13years, now they just cut me off. I feel like this might shut my organs down.

I had taken Alka Seltzer, Cold & Cough and Alieve and I tested positive for Methadone & I don't know what it is or looks like. I take prescription drugs from this doctor and I had nothing to hide. I felt like a criminal! They put a copy in my record and everything! I am so upset about this. What can I do to get this out or get it corrected? It is Not Right!

Very strange I just done one myself and methadone came up. I'm on tramadol and amitriptiline?
Tramadol must have a similar compound in it?

Ummm well. Unisom is an OTC sleep aid and methadone is a powerful cds mixing up those two will put you to sleep forever

I took drug test. I take norco 10 5 times a day then tested that I had Methadone . I take phenergan, gabapentin , flexeril, water pill , klorcon, bood preasure pill, would any of those things make me test positive for methadone?

U could test positive for up to 50 hours is what my research has shown me. I took my last one on tuesday and it showed up today in a ua which is thursday and i also took a low dose.

Im so pissed i tested positive for methadoneI took a drug test i take adderal and 2 percocets 5 s and buspire transadone seraquil all legalky as perscriped and a depressant and a mood stabilizer!iam missing out a an extermely goodpaying job because of this!!i left a job i hated and made less money but as of now i cant get because i tested poitive for methadobe!!this is unfair drug tests areb.d.and unreliable!!!

Promethazine... usually given for nausea. I attend a suboxone clinic and I repeatedly kept failing for methadone. My doctor sent it away for a retest and it always came back as a false positive. You can not mix methadone and suboxone as they will cancel each other out and make you very very sick. After doing my own research I started recording everything I was taking for medicines that was over the counter or prescribed after failing twice. After failing 5 times for methadone I went through my notes and the only thing I had in common the time I had failed was the promethazine. Hope this helps.

Do some research that's a ridiculous statement to make. Read post #61 by "recovery now" that fairly Depicts issues involving false positives in a fair and unbiased perspective.Post's like that serves this forum community best.

I am in pain management taking oxymorphone and oxycodon I am also a diabetic on insulin sms trasadome for sleep i just found out that I tested positive for methadone I have never taken this drug in my life. Can any of my prescription drugs cause a false positive for methadone?? Please help me figure this out. I am also on probation and get drug tested by them but did not fail that test 2 days after the pain management one. Any answers for what could cause this false positive. TY MICKY

I'm on compliance. I've been on suboxone now for 3 weeks. 6 weeks ago I took methadone to come off of heroin and didn't take very much. I'm a heavy person, I weigh 249lbs. I took a urine test for compliance and tested positive for methadone. Is that at all possible? I really need to know. I can go to jail if it comes back positive because I don't have a script for methadone, but I do for suboxone. Please help. I'm so worried.

Sharon, get a blood test specifically to find Methadone. If your blood work shows negative results on this site they have a list of OTC that will show many false positives. Make a copy for your doctor with all the OTC's that can change urine test. Then ask that you want your file to show this was a false positive.

Sometimes this labs test with the same instruments because some are too cheap to use new ones,you can test in another place that you trust but take your test the same day your taking the other the one there sending you to take and then when you get your results you will see the place there sending you to take the test is wrong.
