Weight Loss Or Gain?

My Dr. would like me to switch from Paxil Cr, which I have been taking for 2 years now to Cymbalta because of the the weight gain side effect I'm having with Paxil. He said Cymbalta can have a weight loss effect for some people. I would like to hear comments from anyone that has made this particular switch and/or about weight gain/loss from using Cymbalta. I was on Zoloft for several years and developed significant weight gain, I was switched to Cybalta, in hopes that it would help with my chronic pain, as well as my depression and etc. I did start to lose the weight about a week after I started using it. Unfortunately, it did not work for me at all, for either my pain or depression, so I had to go back on the Zoloft, however, I have maintained the weight loss, even lost a little more, never started gaining again.

I recently started taking cymbalta and I have noticed a significant decrease in my appetite as well as how much I can eat even when I am hungry

Yep, that is correct, Cymbalta is actually considered an Anorexic agent, so for most people it decreases the appetite and causes weight loss, rather than gain like most of the other SSRIs.

I switched briefly from Zoloft to Cymbalta for awhile, my doc wanted me to try it since it can help with both certain types of nerve pain and depression, anxiety, and etc.

I immediately noticed a decrease in my appetite and started losing the weight I had gained on Zoloft.

Perhaps most odd, was the Cymbalta did not work for me, for either my depression or my pain, it did nothing for me at all, so I had to switch back to Zoloft, however, the weight gain and appetite increase never came back. I have kept the weight off and am pretty well back to normal now, appetite wise.
