Hi Naya,

Based on my research, some have gained weight while taking Neurontin. I've read that the weight gain is more so due to water retention which can be resolved with water pills or diuretics. Some have complained of an increase in appetite, and if you eat foods high in saturated fats, sodium, and carbs then that could definitely cause you to put on more fat. Every body is different though, so I wouldn't worry about what you "might" experience just because of what someone else's experience was. When it comes to medication, the only way to know how it will effect you is to try it out.

Have you spoken with anyone about your fears of gaining weight? I understand your concerns but you aren't even close to being overweight, even if you were to gain 5 pounds- you would still be at a perfectly healthy weight. I really wouldn't stress yourself out so much, I'm not sure if you're aware but stress can actually cause weight gain by increasing the amount of cortisol in the body. I've definitely dealt with my fair share of anxiety and stress and I can tell by my weight when my body just can't handle it anymore. I take a supplement called holy basil to take the edge off and it really helps. That's my personal experience though, I just thought I'd offer it as a suggestion if your other anxiety medications aren't working. If you decide to give it a shot, just let your doctor know first!

You can learn more about this drug on the page for Neurontin Details

I hope my reply has helped!
