Walgreens Oxycodone Filling Tricks (Page 6)

I have read all the posts and found that the best way i found is on the 29th of aug i talked to the pharmacy manager and explained the dilemma i was facing and she told me just to transfer all my other scripts to her location and then drop off my oxy script and methadone and that they would order them for me if they were out.Bam ten days later i got a call yesterday that they had my script filled and to come pick them up.Hope this helps those having problems getting their meds filled.Good luck and god bless.
Sherry, I know it's been over a year but is your pharmacy in npr still able to fill your meds? can you give me their info?
Sherry, Would you also be willing to give your pharmacy info to me for my husband? We have been with Walgreens for 28 years and when he was put on oxycodone for degenerative disc disease and then a car accident which aggravated his condition, we went to our local WG, and were told they don't carry them. So...the driving began to every WG in the central FL area, only to find one where the Pharmacist said he would fill them. Yesterday we were told, for the 10th time "we don't have any", so I called the district mgr of WG, who called the Pharmacy mgr who then called me, telling me she only has some of the meds (10 short) and we could have them filled. We went to fill them and the SAME pharmacist who always turns us away, did it again by telling the tech to tell us they had none. I am so angry! My husband is a hard working, blue collar worker and has to endure this pain every day of his life and no one seems to care! It ticks me off to be lied to by someone who took an oath and is supposed to be a professional! And, yes, they are lying. The District mgr told me himself that he was going to get onto his staff for just not telling customers the truth because he has been receiving so many calls about this same problem everyday. This is ridiculous!! Thanks, for listening!
hi"s is in response to Weneed exercise' post.
If you would take a moment to read the topic of conversation here, it is about a pharmacy filling a prescription ONLY.
I have had 40 + injections in my neck and shoulders. I had a left hip replacement recently and have gone through 24 weeks of physical therapy over the past several years.
I take 8 different vitamins and supplements daily.
I have been to 3 spinal surgeons who agree that I need to have 2 vertebraes removed from my neck (C-4 , C-5) and replaced with artificial vertebraes. This is an extremely risky procedure and all the surgeons agree that I should wait until I can no longer put up with the pain. Due to my age (55) and my line of work surgery on my shoulders would most likely fail in a short period of time.
I own a Palm Tree Nursery and am a building contractor. I do have employees but I still do a lot of very physical work. I invite you to come see if you could keep up with my 70 hour work week. Many men half my age have quit over the years trying to meet my production.
Due to the pain medicines I take I have to take something for the side effects of constipation and something else to help with voiding my bladder. These issues are just wonderful to deal with.
My hip still hurts badly (in a different way), especially when I have to climb ladders or work on my hands and knees. I also love when it "pops" due to something while working.
I am really eager to have more surgeries since my hip replacement has been such a success. I have about 5% body fat and still pretty muscular from weight lifting so you cannot say that I need exercise.
I cannot speak for anyone else but the last thing I need is any issues from a pharmacist who knows NOTHING about my physical problems and has never done an examination or seen my "library" of x-rays, CT or Mylo scans nor knows NOTHING about the procedures I have had done, the results, and with issues I am facing in any further procedures I need and why surgeons recommend not to do anything at this point in time.
All of us know there many people, "patients" to get pharmacuticals, and Doctors to make easy money. But it is uninformed, narrow minded, people like you who have painted laws with a broad brush, that have unrightfully included all of us. You need, as do the lawmakers, pharmacists and everyone on "your side" of this issue to get rid of any "bad" doctors so we can enable the people who truly need these medecines just to have any quality of life.
I guarantee I would meet any and all requirements into the most stringent of systems to "qualify" as a patient who truly needs these medecines. We need to return to letting the doctors do the examinations and the pharmacists following the doctor's treatment plan. I would like to see any pharmacist look at all of my documents and see what there course of action would be. They would be LOST. They neither have they education, experience or training.
The pharmacists and politicians need to quit "PLAYING DOCTOR". They are not qaulified. When did pharmacists get the athourity and from where to refuse a doctors orders.
In closing, please "Weneedexercise", let me know when you would like to come and try to keep up with any of us here for a month. Thats a laugh. Lets go for a week or ten days. Over my years I have seen many "big talkers" like you. All uninformed "know it alls".
To everyone on this thread:
Not once does anyone mention -exercise, physical therapy, eating right, vitamins etc
Pharmacists treat you like drug seekers bc you are in fact seeking drugs to make yourself feel better instead of putting any effort in on your own.
Instead of being at home trying to figure out what you can do to stop your pain (other than take pills) you come to the pharmacy and demand that you need your meds this instant, pharmacists SECONDARY goal is to be courteous, their PRIMARY goal is to fill meds correctly and carefully.
Everyone that talks about how much they hate taking the pain meds they are crucified for...if you hate it so much try harder to find another way...stop complaining that the pharmacist isn't at your instant convenience.
Well I have been with walgreens many years. I have thyroid medicine..blood pressure medicine & was getting a 15 oxycodone which i break in half. I used to take large amounts of tylenol for nueropathy & a neck injury that gives me intense pain in my arms as well. I also take flexerel to help. But a new lady at pharmacy refused to fill my prescription & it was a weekend. It scared me to be told u cant go to any walgreens. I have been responsible & never abused. I was not rude to her. I just went home & cryed from humiliation & fear of pain .I am 54 & have been a hairdresser for many years...this medication made it possible for me to work a little longer. Its not easy to explain to a young new pharmacist what its like to have a car accident that affects your whole life. A drunk driver changed mine. Im punished for it.
I am retired military, and Walgreen's refused to refill my pain prescription early, even with the consent of my doctor and my family emergency. I had permission from the Insurance Company, Walgreen's makes decisions they should not. If my doctor writes me a legitimate prescription, he had a reason. They can see I was taking for years thru Walgreen's when they used to take military insurance. I only went there , CVS, Target, Fry's - was out of the medication. I was willing to pay for it instead of send thru my insurance. and then they didn't want to give me my prescription back. It took me a lot of after our calls, but I got it back. Stay away from Walgreen's!!!
I so agree with you, I have many of the same problems that you have stated and Walgreens is the worst. Please let me know if you get a lawyer, maybe a legal suit.
ROFL!!
In all reality if it werent for us they wouldnt have a job God Bless
The above post was to #51. No edit buton?
Someone told me this years ago, and am really glad they did. Break up you giant one paragraph(click Enter bar twice) It makes it sooooooo MUCH easier to read and looks better also.
Just try it, and you will never "look" back. Your post was very informative, but quite difficult to read, even with glasses. I am not trying to be judgmental or rude, just helpful.
Best Regards

IM IN CLEARWATER WORKING ON MY LATE FATHERS PLACE N ONLY HERE FOR 2 WEEKS I HAVE A 2WEEK SCRIPT FOR OXYCODONE 20 MG N HAVE APPT WHERE N I GET BACK, DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE N WHAT I CAN DO IO ALSO HAVE ONE I NEED TO TRANSFER WHILE IM HERE N ITS FOR XANAX
To "Very Lucky", You said that your Doctor faxed your script to the pharmacy. It is against the law to fill a script for any narcotics by fax. Evan an E-Script. All pharmacists know this. My cough medicine with codeine has to be an original copy. I am in this wonderful situation as every one else here. I agree with the people who have been prescribed Methadone as it is the most effective baseline medication that I have ever taken. Too bad that my longtime Dr. Retired about 8 months ago as the Dr. that bought the practice will not prescribe it. He has me on MS Contin and it is not working at all. Oxy as my breakthrough is good a majority of the time but it does not work for very long.
You might try Walgreens in Brandon. The one at the corner of Bloomingdale and Bell Shoals. I take baby doses, 5mg IR Oxy, but they've never turned me away. Sometimes they do check with the Dr. Which delays getting it filled. They treat me like a human. Been doing this for 2 years. I am a regular customer. Been going there since they opened. Bills Pharmacy on Highway 60 sometimes will fill them, but one of the pharmacists told me they get in just enough every month for their regular clientele. Whatever you do, DO NOT go to Walgreens on Highway 60 and Parsons. They are the rudest most inconsiderate people, ever. They're right across from Bills Pharmacy, and a clerk told me they get a lot of customers in there because of the rudeness of people in that Walgreens.
Yeah, I've tried all the methods you listed plus traction, Cortisone INJ's, surgery etc. Nothing works as well as Oxycodone. I am now at the point that I've lost my good credit, about to lose my home and auto but the next time I can't make it to work because of the pain, I'll just take a hot shower.
Methadone is the most effective pain med ever!!! You are so right! Ive been in misery for 13 years taking Peciset 10 mg, and Soma etc. by 5 yrs. later moved to 15 mg. Oxycodone because after years your body gets used to them and the Tylenol prices were crszy then, so a few more years go by, now at 30 mgs. i never wanted to take pills ever before, not even Advil but when in pain and vomiting from it you will try something sooner or later! Any who....new doctor at my doctors office asked me if i tried Methadone? and i thought just like everybody else.....THATS FOR ADDICTS TO GET OFF H!!! NOT TRUE.....I take less 30's and 4 Methadone, and basically no pain, not loopy or tired from them and have my life back! Except im paying an arm and a leg!!!! Thanks WALGREENS! You suck! Anyway thats my 2 cents worth.
Simply amazing! Great to hear they are the asses i know they are.....they ruinend my life when they stopped filling all my 4 scrips for 300.00 a month, blood presure to pain meds. they filled them for 8 years!!!! Because they can...is their reason! Now 3 years later i can only get them filled for 1800.00!!!!!! That is one jobs whole paycheck!!!! Can you imagine the hell i go through to have that covered??!! Sick!!! Only in the USA.....Surprised?, NOT! Anyway honey be happy, thats so lucky, dont over do it and save for a rainy day. Be safe ;)
Hi sherry, I am having the same problem in Ft Laud. please get back to me, i would greatly appreciate it. thank you
Go to Costco
Well here's one for the books! I've been taking Lortabs for over 20 years. I've dabbled in everything from lortab, percocet, oxycontin, methadone, mary jane, coke, fentanyl patches, xanxax, valium, morphine, the list goes on and on and on. Just use your imagination. Anyways. I live in the great state of Tennessee where methamphetamine is abundantly available and you have to go through an act of congress to obtain anything with pseudoephedrine in it. Well a couple of years ago state officials passed a bill that restricts and closely monitors prescription drugs, specifically controlled II and III. They were focusing on drugs such as lortab, xanax, oxycodone, and things of that nature. Now there's no "early refills." There's no 1 or 2 day early refills even at the pharmacists discretion. If the prescription says take 1 tablet every 8 hours a day and the doctor writes you a script for 90 tablets then they cannot and will not fill another script for 30 days. Period. Yes, the doctor can authorize early refills but it is still pharmacy's decision to proceed or not. You get my point. They are really tight about narcotics now. They hold on to them like they're your balls! At any rate. Today I'm sure many of you can relate. From running out early to actually being cut short to just partying and not having enough to last the whole month, it's no fun when you don't have enough! So, my script is for 120 a month for 30 days. My PCP (primary care physician) prescribes them to me. I do not go to a pain clinic or anything. My doctor is totally cool. He's let me get early refills several times and a few other favors. So that time came again for me to get my script again but, this time was different. I didn't have the money to go see him. I am paying just cash each visit due to no insurance. Thanks Obamacare! That's a whole nother story. Moving forward. I didn't have the money to go see him this time so i debated on what to do. After a few days consideration i decided to just call him and tell him the truth. I left a message for his nurse and when she called me back I told her the situation and asked her if she could ask my wonderful doctor if he could just call me in my script. 10 minutes later she calls me back and says that she can call in 1 months worth (no refill) and i would have to pay next time before I see him. Sounds great! Next she asked me if I used a certain Walgreens. I advised that the location she asked about was not my preferred location and gave her the information to my preferred pharmacy. Then the new laws mentioned above come in to play. I presumed that he would have to write the script and I would have to go pick it up however, that's not the case here. They typed up the script, the doctor signed it, and then they faxed it to the appropriate pharmacy. So about an hour or so I go in to the pharmacy and pick up my script and left without any incident. A little while later i get a text that i normally get from Walgreens alerting that my prescription is ready for pick up. This has happened before where I get the text somewhat later after I have already gotten my prescription. I didn't think anything about it. Except this time was different. I got 2 texts and when they send the texts they state that if you have any questions please call the pharmacy along with their phone number. Each text I received had different phone numbers. One number from the pharmacy I went to and the other number was from the location that my doctor's nurse had on her file. I didn't want to press my luck and thought it was too good to be true. So 2 days go by and randomly I get a missed phone call from one of the pharmacy locations. It was the location that I did not use and the location that my doctor's nurse had on file. So my inquiring mind couldn't resist and I had to call back to see what was going on. A guy answers and I tell him I just had a missed call. I give him my info and he says he doesn't know why they called but I have a prescription ready for pick up! Since I don't have insurance I have to pay cash price for every prescription. I asked how much was the prescription and he said the magic number! Laaawd have mercy! Could it be true!?!? Can this really be happening!?!? Noooo. There's no way. So I tell my girlfriend and rush her into the car and speed to the pharmacy. We go through the drive-thru..... low and behold.....
IT HAPPENED!!!
I drive off with another 120 tabs!!! Score!!! How often does this happen!? Never! I got so lucky! And this from a large chain pharmacy and with our new laws and just picking up the first script 2 days ago!!! I thought it wouldn't happen! I felt like I stuck it to the man! Like the good guys won! Shew!!
I just thought i would share my story. I was super excited when this happened and I wanted to share my story with anyone who needs hope to move forward. It can happen and I never thought something like this would ever happen with todays rules and regulations. Thanks for reading and good luck with all your endeavors!
