Voltaren 75mg & Naproxen 500mg
UpdatedNext month, after 3 yrs of unbearable pain, Im finally getting back surgery! (new disc, screws, plates, & rod ) My question is, Ive been on 500 mg of naproxen twice a day for over a yr. How long would it take to clear the nap. out of my system to safely take voltaren 75mg. Norcos are causing such painful constipation that it isnt worth it. Steroids were the best thing ever for reducing the inflammation & thus the pain but I cant take them anymore as they drove my blood sugar so high that i am, for now anyway, a diabetic. Hope someone can help me. Thank you!

I'm very sorry that you're in so much pain! That's horrible!
Both Naproxen and Voltaren are classified by the FDA as being nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, so unless your doctor specifies otherwise, you should just be able to cleanly go from one to the other, without having to wait. Usually, you'd just replace your next dose with the new medication.
Typical side effects of NSAIDs may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation.
Is there anything else I can help with?
thank you so much verwon and please accept my apology for taking so long to get back to you. My surgery is next Fri.& for nearly 2 wks i havent any Rx pain meds at all! Since my surgery was scheduled 3 days prior to my appt for the spinal injections by the pain management Dr. I was instructed to cancel all further Pain Dr. appts as i would be under the surgeons care following surgery. Made sense to me until i called on the surgical group to replenish the Norco Rx ( previously prescribed by the Pain mgemnt Dr ) and was informed i would have to get that from my PCP until AFTER surgery! My PCP is a P.A. at the local clinic who can NOT prescribe controlled substances at all! Thats why i was referred to a Pain Management group! I doubt this gets published. i understand.its not a drug question. i probably need a lawyer. But since im on disability & a medical card thats not a possibility. This is the first surgery ive ever needed. Ten more long very painful days. I cant believe this is happening. I hope this will be published as a warning to others like me. DONT place blind trust in ANY Dr or surgeon to manage your pain as i did!! I did, & it broke the contract w my Pain Dr. And i should have insisted on something in writing as well, a promise to care for me in a humane manner throughout! Thankyou and God bless.
