Viibryd To Paxil

Do I need to wean off Viibryd if I only took for 2 weeks? My anxiety is through the roof and I'd rather just go back to Paxil and deal with the weight gain. Can I just switch back without issues or do I need to taper down the 20 mg of Viibryd like when I started it?

Our bodies all are subject to respond differently to quitting cold-turkey or tapering off something like Viibryd 2-3 weeks into treatment. However, working closely with your prescribing doctor on a tapering plan is probably the safest method for quitting, in my own humble opinion, especially if you don't know whether it's deemed necessary or not and are left undecided on a specific approach. I personally think it's better to be safe than sorry and take it slow; unless the risk of potential withdrawal symptoms outweighs any possible unwanted side effects associated with staying on Viibryd longer at a decreasingly smaller dose. If you don't end up discussing this with your doctor, you should at least trust that you'll make the right decision based on how the drug is making you feel and hopefully use that as a gauge. 2-3 weeks in retrospect isn't very long when it comes to building something up in your system.
