Viibryd - Falling Asleep Is A Scary Trip (Top voted first)
UpdatedI've been taking viibryd for 3 months in place of Prozac. I've had a problem remembering my dose because of the "take w food" requirement.... sometimes forget to take it w dinner. Two times now while incredibly overtired, and when forgetting my dose, I have had the scariest experience. When falling asleep, the feeling of drowsiness is so strong, yes like paralysis, and then in my mind's eye I start to see "light bulb flashing" and then I hear voices, and worse my typical ringing in my ears can really kick up the volume! I struggle to open my eyes and even to take a gasp of air! What is this? Talk about really messed up. I am so busy that I really don't want to start changing meds up right now so I will be more diligent and not miss a dose. But I tell you, if I do by mistake, and this happens again, I got to get off of this stuff. I have been treated for anxiety and depression for 14 years.... this is a first for me.

I agree. I missed a dose by accident. The instructions say to just take the regular dose the next day. But I went to bed that night and it took me forever to fall asleep because I had to jerk away from the "flashbulb" every couple minutes. Usually, it was something really big in my "dreams" moving towards me, and I'd either get a big flash, or terrible vertigo. And for me it's less of a ringing, and more like when a bug flies up next to your ear. I woke up for work super late and rushed out... forgetting my medicine on the table (I take it home on weekends and leave it at work during the week). Worst day at work ever. I took a fifteen and went out to my car and spent 15 mins flopping around in my car, because I was so tired, but the medicine wouldn't let me close my eyes. I am amazed I got home again to take it, because driving was a feat.
Hello, Michelle and Matt! How are you both doing?
Just a suggestion to possibly avoid this happening in the future…
If you have a smart phone, which most of us do nowadays, almost all of them offer reminder apps, of some type. For instance, to make sure I don't miss any medications, because I'm a heart patient, I use one on my iPhone called Rxmindme, it's very easy to use and lets me schedule multiple reminders, including both ongoing ones and limited time ones such as those for an antibiotic.
It's a great way to ensure you don't miss the next dose.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Matt - weird, right? I haven't experienced it since then, but then again I've been real good about remembering the dose. I guess it's not an extended release medication that will give you some "wiggle room". Let me know if you're still taking it and how you're doing.
