I am a trauma surgeon in Israel and I have used Tramadol with Lorazepam for fibromyalgia but never with Zoloft. I guess the big question would be are you having side effects with this treatment and if you are go to your physician and let him know so the meds can be adjusted. With this combination of drugs you should be monitored with blood work for serotonin levels and liver function periodically. Also Zoloft and Lorazepam are used in conjunction for PTSD and stress and anxiety so maybe you are being treated for the anxiety you are having related to the fibromyalgia. Just monitor your side effects closely. If you have thoughts of suicide or doing harm to yourself, that's a big warning sign. Headaches, excessive sleepiness or sleeplessness is another one. Talk these over with your doc and don't change your treatment by yourself or stop taking these meds abruptly as that can be worse. They should be tapered off especially if you have been taking them for a while.

@yellowrose,

I second what Tracy said about doctors and how they should be more upfront when it comes time to informing patients about possible interactions between different meds; especially when it's the same doctor who prescribes all 4 drugs. Makes me kinda question their schooling methods and whether or not they even take time to do a quick google search when they disappear from the patient room for 20min, leaving you sitting there wondering what's happening.

Ironically, looking up potential drug interactions between Tramadol, Gabapentin, Ativan, and Zoloft, it appears as though there are interactions listed among ALL of those medications:

- Tramadol & Gabapentin (neurontin)
- Tramadol & Ativan (lorazepam)
- Gabapentin (neurontin) & Zoloft (sertraline)
- Ativan (lorazepam) & Zoloft (sertraline)

Interactions between the combinations of drugs listed above, state that taking the two together can reportedly increase your risk of certain side effects such as impaired thinking/judgement, difficulty concentrating, dizziness, drowsiness - whereas you shouldn't operate a vehicle.

- Tramadol & Zoloft (sertraline); an interaction that Tracy already confirmed, is also considered to be the most dangerous interaction among those listed, for a number of reasons already mentioned.

I hope this info helps you make a more informed decision moving forward.

Hi, Yellowrose. The only thing with the meds you listed is taking the tramadol with Zoloft as they both work on the serotonin receptors and they may cause a serotonin reaction....or toxicity. I can't remember the exact name for it.....my brain froze on that one.....look it up though. The side effects of this include confusion, anxiety and some other aspects of this combo in which you should visit your ER if any of the side effects appear....especially the confusion. They will need to stop your medications and give you other meds to combat the reaction. You would probably need to spend the night in the hospital for them to do this so you are safe. I took tramadol 50mg, 6/day and Zoloft 100mg per day and I was fine. Just be careful of these side effects and you should be ok. Your doctor didn't tell you any of this????? That is not very smart on his/her part. EVERY doctor should warn their patients about such reactions occurring. I hope you can take this combo as I was able to and I'm sorry if I caused you any anxiety over this but don't let it get to you so bad. Just be careful, like I said, and if any questions, talk to your doctor. If you are not getting sufficient answers from your doctor then ask another doctor. My doctor brought this to my attention immediately and, like I said, I was fine. I no longer take the tramadol because it quit working. I hope everything works out for you.
