Trazodone Withdrawal Symptoms (Top voted first)
UpdatedI need to stop taking Trazodone prior to having a myleogram. I have to go three nights without it and I am very worried about withdrawal symptoms and lack of sleep. I have a pacemaker, high blood pressure, and a rare blood disorder called PNH. I recently ran out of Gabapentin and had severe withdrawal. I thought I going to die! BP went to 180/111, heart rate was erratic going from 38 bpm to 125 then back to my 100% paced rate of 60 over and over for hours. Is there something else that I can take that will offset the withdrawal symptoms but not interfere with the myleogram?

Hi Butz,
Have you ever considered looking into kratom as an option? My findings suggest that it could possibly help with at least some of the problems mentioned above.

Quite frankly, I don't know whether any substance you ingest interferes with a myelogram (or myelography), but based on the definition below given by John Hopkins Medicine Library, I'd suspect there'd be some flexibility in what you can take since the focus of myelography isn't on drugs but rather your physical state of condition so to speak:
"A myelogram is a diagnostic imaging procedure done by a radiologist. It uses a contrast dye and X-rays or computed tomography (CT) to look for problems in the spinal canal, including the spinal cord, nerve roots, and other tissues."
Has your doctor offered any suggestions yet?
Well wishes to you!
Have been going through hand numbness. Today is the worst. Veins are invisible. They are usually large puffy and blue. This really scares me. Been taking 200 milligrams of trazadone every night. Is this what's causing it?
To Butz and Laurel,
Butz - Benadryl ( Dipenhydramine ) would be a safe substitute if acceptable to your medical provider. It's an OTC preparation available at all drug and larger food store chains. Kratom has wonderful properties but for your situation I'd suggest something that has a long and established history especially since it's only for a short term abstinence syndrome while undergoing diagnostics.

Laurel - 200 mg. nightly is a considerable dose. There are far newer drugs that tend to be easier on the system. With those reported symptoms a underlying cardiac condition may be causing this edema so all medication should be closely monitored. I'd make an appointment to meet with your medical provider as soon as possible. Best of luck to you.

p.s. we use this drug for pm sedation and sleep induction at the facility I'm employed by. It's a preferred agent for those with a history of substance abuse since it produces far less euphoria than traditional benzodiazepine and barbiturate class medications, so I see the use of this drug on a regular basis. It has limitations but adverse effects are normally well tolerated by most.
Laurel,
If I were you I'd contact your treating prescriber since this condition sounds allot like Edema. It can be extreamly dangerous if not treated aggressively. Only your doctor with benefit of your medical history, diagnostics and medications can discern if these symptoms are a result of an underlying condition or just an adverse effect from the drug in question. Best of luck.
Would Trazodone make you lose weight after taking it for long period of time
