Tramadol And Cymbalta

Has anyone been on tramadol and then started on cymbalta too? I take 150 mg tramadol for a frozen shoulder am have been off Vicodin for a year due to its addictive properties. My Dr. added cymbalta due to increasing joint pain and ongoing depression with horrible morning depression. Just stopped taking 20 mg Lexapro. What have people noticed about combing these 2 meds? I want to function better but not develop serotonin syndrome.

It was the lowest dose of cymbalta, and I take 150 mg go tramadol. I took them both for two weeks and felt more sedated than usual. No benefit to depression at that time and I was afraid I couldn't function at work so I stopped the cymbalta. It also gave me a strange pressure near my ears and headaches. Strangely my doses of tramadol did not seem as effective either. My Dr. is now prescribing T 3 at 25 mcg along with Lexapro at 20 mg. I have been on Lexapro 2 years or so and celexa before that. Still same dose of tramadol. What I really need is something that lifts the apathy and depression and adds energy and get up and go. I take the Lexapro at bedtime since I am lethargic all day if it's in the am. For the last 10 years I have the foggiest, low functioning, somewhat dismal state that lasts until noon and then starts to dissipate. By 3 pm I feel great and start being capable like a normal person. It is so odd and unrelated to my life circumstances. I stay up until midnight oh so since I feel well then. When I skip the Lexapro or take 1/2 a pill, the lethargy the next day lessens. If I do this for several days my mood turns into sad and irritable. All of this seems very chemical to me as I have a wonderful life and would like to participate in it more. Perhaps long term depression medications have messed me up over 30 years. I am very sensitive to RX drugs. What are your thoughts about this and T 3? All I notice is perhaps an increase in appetite from it. ( Weight still fine at 110). Also I am Type 1 diabetic which came before the depression. Thanks for any info you have.
Hello, Mayvar! How are you?
What dosage did he prescribe of the Cymbalta?
That's the important factor regarding serotonin syndrome. Your dose needs to be carefully adjusted and your doctor should be monitoring you regularly so any symptoms can be caught early.
