I was taking 40mg a night but I got my doc to give me 20mg and 10 mg to try and get off the drug. It did not work because I was not given any support. I found out the reason was the price of the drug had gone sky high so NICE wanted everyone off and onto a drug called ZOPICLONE which was much cheaper, doctors were telling patient's that there was a shortage of diazepam and this was completely untrue. NICE told the doctors to stop using this drug and start giving 3.5mg of zopiclone or 7.5mg, I told my doctor that I need 15mg of ZOPICLOPE; she completely agreed with me. She then cut my DIAZEPAM OFF completely, the absolutely the wrong thing to do. I WENT COLD TURKEY, strictly prohibited, but I did it. It made no sense to me as I was on the drug 20 years. I CAME OFF kicking and screaming, seeing beasts I couldn't described. I had hallucinations every couple of hours, you just could not get rid of them. All sorts of things came into your head. My wife thought I would kill myself so she hid drugs that were in the house so I could not get them. One minute your boiling the next i was freezing, I had terrible terrible nightmares for 7 days. I eventually came back to civilization. THIS COULD Not have been achieved without the most Stoic wonderful work my wife did. Without it, it would have call been called off, she kept me locked in the bedroom and made sure I was hydrated and kept asking if I wanted to give up. Of course I said no when I was not in stupid mood and could understand her. I'm sure if I report the doctor to the medical council she would have been struck off but she was a good doctor and I think she's made a mistake so I just let it go.
