I take this pill which is prescribed as the generic for tegretol, used to prevent seizers or is used for bipolar disorder. as a mood stablizer. I just recieved it in place of my regular prescription and came on here to find out if it is the right meds for me.

This is Carbamazepine 200mgs, a generic for Tegetrol XR. This is used to help control seizures and to help some types of nerve pain. Yes, it is also used a mood stabilizer.

It is the correct med, just a generic form, but as to if it is the correct med for you to use, none of us can tell you that.

Thanks for your response Verwon, I saw a show on 20/20 about pharmacies that screw up peoples prescription and since I had never taken this particular brand I was concerned. Thanks again. Tiffany

You are right to be concerned, I have caught several errors when a pharmacist misread a drug name or a dosage, so it does happen.
