Tapering Off Zubsolv

Updated

I'm on Zubsolv, 5.7 mg 2×day. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to taper off this drug? I've been on it for a year now and want to get off of it. My doc seems keeps telling me that " Well you know, your really suppose to be taking 3 ×s a day bc your parking spots aren't fully blocked." I feel like he's pushing me on this drug and to keep taking it. I'm ready to get off it now so if anyone know what does to go down to, please help. Thanks for reading! Btw, this drug did help me get off from hydrocodone. I'm a chronic pain patient in lower back. Did wonders for me but I'm ready to move on!

Hi Robin,

I think it's wise that you're staying mindful of your Dr's motives behind choosing to keep you on this medication. If you get the sense that he's making things more difficult for you, I'd just be a little more upfront with him about your intention to quit taking it.

While I don't personally have experience with tapering, I think some of the more popular weaning methods are usually based around skipping/alternating doses and/or cutting the pill into fractioned amounts.

Choosing an appropriate tapering method may be nerve wracking if you don't have the professional opinion of a doctor. But if your current physician doesn't at least agree with your decision to quit... I'd say it may be time to find someone who really cares.

I hope this insight helps! Has anyone here had success tapering off Zubsolv on their own?

I have been on suboxone since 2003.. I honestly hav to say that's dr saved my life as I would have died had I kept taking oxycontins.. Anyway on the past six months my insurance company demanded I try an alternative so my dr put me on Zubsolv.. I am happy with it.. There is a small difference In it and suboxone but since my insurance company doesn't want me on suboxone anymore I'm content to take the zubsolv.. I doubt that your dr is trying to push you to take it.. He or she knows what they are doing and know that without it you will most likely get back on pain pills.. Please don't do that.. My hairdresser was on methadone and ended up getting off of it cause he thought he could handle it on his own and he couldn't.. He started back taking pain pills so now he is back on the methadone... If you can please keep taking your meds.. Don't take a chance that way..
My question is is it better to take your zubsolv on an empty stomach or do I need to eat first before taking?

Suboxone or any buprenorphine has a half life compared to H 4 days withdrawal ad out 8 for boups. I took my 8mg and split it to 4mg am 4mg pm then next day 4mg am 2mg pm, next day 2mg am 2mg pm.......

Day Schedule:

1)4am, 4pm. mg
2)4am, 2pm. mg
3)2am, 2pm. mg
4)2am, 1pm. mg
5)1am, 1pm. mg. Begins getting tricky but maybe easier with strips. I divided the pills and eyeballing it went by amount of pill 1mg is ? a pill. Dividing powder in piles and labeling day and time and putting in wax bags. Like dope??
6)?am, 1/16pm
7)1/16am, 1/32pm
8)1/32am, 1/64pm
9)1/64am, 1/128pm
10)1/128am, 1/128pm. = 1/16 mg
11)1/128am. A melatonin or 2 at bed time

Been years so I might have gone to 1/32 mg. I know it sounds crazy but you don't realize how strong this stuff is until you try and stop. I personally made it 4 days, I didn't realize it at the time that my whole life I had generalized anxiety disorder type severe. At the 4 day point my only symptoms were horrible anxiety. I know if I had anxiety medication at the time. I would have been fine. I do take anxiety meds now. And after getting a diagnosis I used my first script to kick H and 1 8mg sub the first day, 1 the 2nd day and then a months worth of benzos in a week and a half and stayed clean until I decided to get on subutex for chronic pain from near fatal car accident.

No bs. if you don't ween down that low, it will suck.

I am a gym owner and do a lot of physical work. I have been weaning myself off of subsolv for about 2 months now. I don't know if it is in my head or if my legs really ache like they do. I also have had a bad winter and flooding in my gym. I was wondering if it is the right time to stop since I just take less that 1/2 a day. Just with all this stuff going on it's making me want to get another prescription. Or go to a friend for help. I know the best thing is to go to my Dr. Just wondering if I can afford this. I have had a hard time with money because lack of work. I just don't know when I'm finished with my last dose if I can continue with my everyday life and I need it more now that ever. I have lots of work to do and don't have time with the withdrawals. Thanks for reading my message.

Go to the Orexo site. They have a program for you if you make less than $40 grand a year(don't quote me). You will be lucky to get on it but if you're having financial issues, find the paperwork, go to your doc and ask him if he has anyone on the program yet. Good luck. Be persistent. Don't relapse.

If you get bad pains kin yolur legs, but the pain stops if you sit down for 5 minutes, you may want to get tested for P.A.D ( peripheral artery disease ).

Hello everyone.

Alot of threads I see when researching tapering off of Subs/dubs are years old, so I'm not sure how many are still watching these threads. I am determined to get off of zubsolv. I've been on it for 3 years and I just don't want to be anymore. I feel like a slave to it and to an expensive monthly visit to the doctor. I recently moved 500 miles away from my doctor and decided that that is it. I have to force myself off of these. While I am not naive, I am trying to reduce dosage as much as possible. I was on 1.4 mg of zubsolv daily, now trying to cope with 0.7mg today. I've been researching tapering suggestions and wanted to know if anyone has had a semi successful experience doing this on their own? If so, what reductions did you make successfully?
