Taking 500mg Of Nuvigil

An addiction built up in me at a prescribed dose of 500Mg, My body developed a need for more than this 500mg at this point. lots of ups and downs. can barely function or work. I need it cause otherwise I will fall asleep driving during the daytime, and staying awake in general during the day. i have Obstructive sleep apnea and insomnia.
If you have to take this drug do not take more than the recommended dose of 250 Mg. Otherwise eventually you will be sorry you did, like me. It sucks.

I started taking Nuvigil for treatment resistant depression 2 years ago - saved my life. Have been taking 3 of 250mg tablets for almost 2 years with excellent results and no side effects. Currently, going downhill because no one will increase it for me. After 23 years of hell, I actually enjoyed life again. If it works, why won't someone help me? I'd rather live 6 months on a higher dose than 20 more years without it. Can anyone help me? Has anyone had similar experience?

It is normal for your body to eventually get used to anything you ingest regularly, such as a medication, and this causes it to stop working as well for you. This is called dependence, and usually results in your needing an increased dosage, or a switch to a different medication.

Nuvigil contains Armodafanil, and is commonly used to treat ADHD, shift-work sleep disorder, and narcolepsy. More details can be found on DailyMed.

Diane, you are on a very unusual dosing regimen. Has your doctor stated why they won't help you? Are you on any other medications?

My psychiatrist prescribed it for my treatment resistant depression In 25 years, it is the only thing that ever worked for me. Tried all the meds, ECT, TMS and Ketamine Infusion - nothing. Started on 50mg in June 2016. I was 60 years old - and only 37 when it started. The first day I took it, while watching TV I giggled. I was so started - didn't know where it came from. No depression, anxiety, side effects. I can fell peace of mind, pleasure, passion for my husband, social activity, hobbies, etc. that is normal. I actually look forward to everything instead of finding ways to avoid. I was living in FL and that's where my Dr. is. I moved back north and we had phone appts. Didn't need any other help but med mgmt. He won't go higher than 3 because he hasn't seen me a few years. He could tell by talking to me and seeing photos I sent what a miracle cure it was for me. I can't find a doc up here who will increase because they don't know me or the hell I've been through, like FL doc does. I'm also taking prozac and lamictal and several others for unrelated problems. I am not addicted - I am trying to save my life. I'd rather live 1 year on Nuvigil than 20 years like I was prior to it.
