You can just start taking 2 a day, unless your doctor instructs otherwise, there is no harm from taking less, but you may have experienced more pain than if you'd been taking two.
The FDA classifies this medication as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation.
