Switched From Hydroco10-325 To Oxycodone 5-325..withdrawals Possible?
(Newest replies first)
Updated
Is is possible to have withdrawals from hydrocodone, even though I am now taking oxycodone? Bad sleep, short of breath, anxiety, extremely tired. I thought I was sick, but I recall feeling like this when I was going off another addictive medication. I take klonopin to help me sleep, but want to take a hyrocodone right now to see if my anxiety will ease up...Any suggestions?

Absolutely
Your body is just reacting to the loss of a chemical. It needs time to adjust.
Yes...but it should not take long for ur body to get use to the cozy...they should of cut u back on one drug while starting u on other....these docs know better it just seems like they don't care
After several weeks, your body will become tolerant or dependent to opioids. Addiction is when you abuse the drug by taking it for reasons other than pain, trying to get more than prescribed and when you psychologically crave it. If the pills make you feel good or "high" then you could be prone to addiction. There is no shame in becoming dependent/tolerant unless you abuse the drug.
Stop all u will end up like me and u don't want to take it from me
There is a difference between tolerance/dependence and addiction. Addiction is when you abuse the drug and will do anything to get more. Taking opioids for more than 6 weeks can result in dependence, but who cares? If you need the drug, take it! That is nothing to be ashamed of when your body becomes tolerant or dependent. If you take more than you should or take the drug to feel high, THAT is addiction. Don't suffer.
No! And dont make urself "suffer" so terribly that when u then take the oc it will feel like a "miracle" actually takes either really large or quickly increasing doses for addiction to take hold...unless already had any other substance abuse. The reality is even if u psychologically like the oc feeling...u wont have access to it & there for will not have a rountine or habit or "ritual" around it... No if you ask for a refill on the two weeks are up and let's save taking it every morning with your coffee and have that habit and then reinforce it then you could be in for some trouble
I need help. today is 12/18. I'm alone. battling cancer and the withdraw of Fentanyl patch 100 mgs every 3 days plus Oxycodone 10/315 lorazepam 2-4 mgs every 6 hours im going to withdrew i cannot drive and i need to go pick up a new prescription of Oxycontin 15mg x 60 pills yesterday many places were closed. Where can i go? Please someone help me.
I had a total hip replacement 5 weeks ago. My discharge meds included 20mg extended release OxyContin (2wk supply), was then prescribed 10mg extended release (2wk supply). I now have OxyCodone 5mg to take as needed for pain. I've heard how "habit forming" this medicine can be so I'm worried about becoming addicted. Consequently, I'm taking extra strength Tylenol for pain management, which is helpful, but doesn't entirely alleviate the pain. When the pain becomes unmanageable, (usually waking me from sleep) I'll take the OxyCodone. I don't take the meds regularly, but should I be concerned about addiction?
Hello, Kathy! How are you?
No, Oxycodone is slightly stronger than Hydrocodone, so you shouldn't be experiencing withdrawals. Those same side effects could be due to starting the new medication, though.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Have they eased up?
