Suboxone No Longer Working For Chronic Pain
UpdatedI was put on suboxone almost a year ago because a new pain doctor told me if I didn't switch to it then he couldn't help me. It was the scariest thing I've ever done but I did it. For the first 3 months I hated it. I had horrible insomnia and nausea. Then I go back to the NE pain center and my new pain doc no longer works there!!??? They set me up with another pain doctor but everyone everywhere assumes I got put on suboxone because I was an addict. Anyway I got through it and within a few more weeks, I only felt 100% complete pain relief and was full of energy! I lost 60 pounds! Out was great.
Now nearly 6 months later it's like the opposite. I'm not taking it regularly cause it's no longer making my pain go away and my depression is completely out of control. This newly appointed pain doctor does not help me and i cannot find a doctor that will treat my mental health conditions because nobody knows what to can be prescribed with suboxone. I don't know what to do but I'm ready to get off this roller coaster ride cause my pain and depression are out of control. What do I do?

Hello, Jennifer! How are you doing? Have you had any luck finding help yet?
Suboxone does help some people with severe, chronic pain, it is not solely used to treat addiction, most doctors should be aware of that. The FDA does warn that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. However, since opiates are depressants, it could be adding to your problem, you may also be experiencing withdrawal symptoms, if you aren't taking it regularly.
As to what can be prescribed with it to treat depression, there are many medications available, but you may need to see a specialist, because they would more knowledgeable about what would be safe for you to take with the Suboxone.
Have you consulted a psychiatrist, or counselor for the depression?
