Suboxone, Klonopin, Neurontin Drug Interactions

My daughter is on suboxone and takes klonopin and neurontin. Is there a toxic interaction between these when taken together?

I didn't find any listed, so it should be fine, as long as they've all been prescribed for her and her doctor is monitoring her regularly.

Both the Klonopin and Suboxone can increase sedation, but that is the only issue listed, according to the FDA. They also carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause other side effects, such as dry mouth, dizziness and constipation.

You are wrong. Klonopin and Suboxone mixed together can cause death and seizures. Neurontin is ok with Suboxone. Dr's prescribe Suboxone for addictions. To get people off of opioids. Dr's in WV. will not prescribe Suboxone and Klonopin together. Your information is incorrect. I too take prescription Suboxone so I know this for a fact.

Hello Linnie. Effective immediately with the new war on opioids and the reduction of mortality associated with opioid use; the concomitant use of benzodiazepines (klonopin) with opioids (suboxone) is to be avoided. The risk of death is present when these two are mixed. In fact, it is now part of most pain agreement contracts, including most addiction medicine contracts.

I take subs 16mg and klonopin 4mg gabapentin 900mg daily and it's wonderful and legal in wisconsin so you are wrong!

You obviously have a high tolerance to said medications. Someone who doesn't could suffer from acute respiratory failure if these medications are taken concomitantly or even over a period of hours. This is a very common way that people die from prescription drug overdoses; opioid/benzo mixtures.

Gabapentin is pushing Opiate Overdosage by 50% also for some weird reason population studies are showing a higher percentage than Benzodiazepines combined with Opiate with new DATA showing the same rolling in. The U.K. Just updated its DATA sheet for Respiratory depression with Gabapentin as a medication all by itself. The FDA and the USA have not addressed it yet. Add Opiates, Benzodiazepines and Gabapentin this is something to be concerned about.

people have gotten mixed answers from doctors and articles on the internet about using Neurontin and Suboxone together. some doctors say it’s dangerous, while other doctors commonly prescribe the two together.

Using buprenorphine together with other medications that also cause central nervous system depression can lead to serious side effects,such as respiratory distress, or concerns.

Well I hope your daughter is ok because you can literally die. I’m a retired addict and it looks like your daughter is playing the medicine game. Ask yourself if she has ever lied to you about her medicine. If you awnsered yes then you need to speak with her providers and address her addiction for her befor she dies. Kolonipin and sovoxin can cause serious side affects and can kill her! Plus the other pain pills. Not good.
