Starting Suboxone Treatment

Tuesday I have an appointment scheduled with a suboxone doctor. I have became addicted to opiates in 2005 after I had surgery. I was able to sober up on my own for around a year in 2008 but I relapsed and in the past 2 years I dont think I've had even one sober day. I work, run my household, take care of my children but I just can't seem to function without something in my system. I am ready to be the person I was before I started abusing pain meds (and anything else I couls get my hands on). Im going to 3 meetings a week and a therapist to help me along the way.. but i just need someone to answer me honestly, do these really work? I don't know if I can handle living this way much longer so I really hope its "yes"

Hi, Yes they work BUT unless you have a real bad habit you may want to reconsider. I,m talking about needing something every 4-6 hrs or you start to go into wds. I,m talking about after 20hrs or so your climbing the walls and can hardly function. Subs are one of the strongest meds out there. Look it up. Subs are addicting. They do have there place though. Some folks just can,t stop useing and subs will help with this. The subs give you a break from allways looking for your next pill. This is the time to get into therapy, go to meetings and start to get your head back together. I don,t recommend subs if your just taking a couple pain pills to get thru the day. Subs are addicting and some folks find them very hard to get off. What does your therapist think about this? I,m not a doctor so this is all just my opinion. Do some research on subs ( Google, what is half life of suboxone and How strong are suboxone compared to Morphine ) Good luck on whatever you decide to do. Post back and tell how you made out.

If it was just a couple a day I wouldn't be putting myself through this. Between Poppy pod tea, hydromet, OCs and vicodin I have dug myself in pretty deep. Ive tried doing this on my but by the middle of the day I am sick as hell and with everything I have going on in. my life I cant be "dope sick". I don't know how I've let myself become this person, but I'm so tired of living like this. I will definitely let you know, I just wish Tue would get here already.

Don,t forget your gonna have to be well into your withdrawal like 16-18hrs since the last time you took an opiate until you can take your first dose of sub. If you don,t theres a good chance you,ll go into precipitated wds. I wouldn,t wish them on my worst enemy if I had one. Very important to be truthful with sub dr. about when you took your last opiate.

The appointment went well, I really like the doctor and he was compassionate and understanding.. not to mention he made me comfortable to tell the truth about my addiction. He started me off on 8 milligrams once a day or 4 twice and already has a tapering plan in place so that by next Christmas I will be on my own. Im so excited right now..

Good for you! It,s easier to jump off at the end if your taking it once a day. Got that from a sub dr. plus it just makes sense. The half life last several days once subs get in system so its easy to just take once a day.
