Stamlo Beta And Atorva
UpdatedMy father age 52 years has been taking stamlo beta for more than 10 years now. he has been taking even Atorva 10 mg for cholesterol (230 approx) from 10 years. off late, he has been feeling that he has difficulty in passing urine in the morning due to the flow; also he doesnt have immunity like before. doctor had prescribed 1 tablet of stamlo beta and atorva everyday but he does not take it regularly. he goes for morning walk also but irregular though.
is it OK to have atorva and stamlo beta together? whether Slow flow of urine and loss in immunity power are side effects of any of the tablets mentioned above.
note: he does not have sugar or any other issue except of blood pressure and cholestrol.

Hello, Deepika! How are you?
First of all, he needs to take his medications regularly, as instructed by his doctor. These aren't something you can just take, when you feel you need to. They need to be taken all the time, on a regular schedule.
Stamlo Beta is listed as containing Amlodipine and Atenolol, according to the FDA it is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and may possibly cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, hypotension, increased urination and stomach pain. Atorva contains the active ingredient Atorvastatin, it is used to help lower cholesterol and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches.
A slow or hesitant flow of urine is most likely due to a prostate problem and is unlikely to be related to the medications, he should consult his doctor to have this checked out.
What do you mean by lowered immunity power? Is he getting sick more often? If he has high blood pressure and isn't taking his medication regularly, then that can happen, because his body is putting more energy into fighting to keep his heart working and that can lead to lowered resistance.
