Spiriva And Weight Gain (Top voted first)

I've mentioned this once before and I will again. I've posted my problem with Spiriva and serious weight gain problems before, and have also told of my solution to solving this problem. I had gained over 25 lbs while taking this inhaler for 5-6 months. It seemed that each and every pound was only around the midsection and nowhere else. In spite of drastic dieting the "belly bulge" would not leave. It was after months of dieting I had had enough!

Last winter, starting in mid December I waged war against this intrusion on my well being and went to war! I put my car up in the garage and went everywhere on foot including shopping and visits to here, ther and everywhere. I trudged through snow, ice, and freezing weather for 4-8 miles/day. Along with that I dieted down to the tune of 800-1200 calories a day every day for 5-6 weeks.

After 5-6 weeks 25 lbs was gone along with the belly bulge! I somehow broke the bond this damn inhaler had on my system. I am now eating about 2000 calories/day and waliking only 1-2 mile/day and not one pound has returned nor has the "belly bulge"!

Answer: Stop complaining, diet and get off your hind-end! You will see results.

I am very glad that you found a weight loss plan that worked for you.

However, Spiriva can also cause fluid retention, in some people that use it. Thus, if anyone on it develops noticeable weight gain, it is very important that they not just assume that's all it is, it needs to be checked out by their doctors. Such fluid retention, if left to continue out of control, could lead to elevated blood pressure, elevated heart rate and possible congestive heart failure.
