Solutions For My Own Pain Management
UpdatedI have been on sever chronic pain meds for almost 14 years. upon moving to Oregon I discovered I had to get a new doctor. After several attempts with several doctors i am now with a pain management specialists, Covallis pain and spine. However, they have denied interest in keeping my meds anywhere close to where they have been for the past 13 years. I am not a doctor, I have however done everything I know to do to try to explain that what they are doing is only making my pain and my life more difficult to live with. I am not a drug seeker or an addict. I hate having to take drugs to have a shot at having some semblance of a "normal" life. But after having to endure so much for so long I am very close to throwing in the towel. I have been taking oxycodone, methadone and corisaprodol a generic for soma a muscle relaxer for spasms. I am considering one last ditch effort towards talking with another pain management specialist to the end of getting me back on my long time perscriptions which were making it possible to function most of the time. Of course there are always times when nothing seems to make a difference too. I am hoping someone knows of a doctor or specialists within driving distance of albany oregon who would be open to working with me not dictating what they will or won't do because of their own taboo's or preconceived thoughts about opiods for pain management. If not, I am resigned towards putting my house in order and leaving this world behind. I am tired, exhausted and very tired of fighting for a better life than what I have now to look forward to. So... if there is any words of hope or even a tangible solution to be had I would really appreciate some help. I have already shared with my wife and child that I cannot continue to endure this level of pain for another twenty years. thanks for anything you can offer. Mike

Hello, Mike! How are you doing? I am very sorry about what you're going through.
There were some new regulations put in place this year that have made it very difficult for doctors to be able to prescribe controlled substances freely, no matter how much a patient needs them.
If the current doctors you're seeing really aren't helping you, then by all means, I strongly encourage you to consult a different specialist.
Have you ever tried the nerve blocks? I wonder if they would help you?
