An immediate or instant release medication is formulated in such a way that it starts to be absorbed into your blood stream to do its work as soon as you swallow it.
Whereas a regular release must be digested and will usually take about 15 to 20 minutes to start working.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
