Side Effects For Humira

I just started Humira in the last 2 weeks and I feel like my allergies are going nuts. My whole body is swelling. After reading some of your side effects this is somewhat normal. Does the swelling of legs, face, etc. go away? I went to the general practitioner to get something for my allergies. She seems to think its my body reacting to the Humira.
Re: Daniel L (# 6)
Dont use it. It has side affects like personalty change, anxiety…moodswing. It is terrible. Dont use it
Re: MIC (# 2)
I know this was awhile ago MIC but your anxiety might be from the steroids they gave you for the swelling. One steroid injection of long acting kenalog (for arthritis flare) gave me panic disorder. I was a mess, seemed to just fry my nervous system. So I know how you feel and hope you feel better by now.
has any body experience hair lost when using Humira .....
my wife has been on Humira for now 5 month to treat crohn desease.
But she is rapidly losing her hair is this normal
this started a month ago...
Re: Paul (# 8)
I had so many side effects after two months, I had to stop using Humira. Slowly, the effects went away. At the time, I spoke with a Humira rep and described my side effects - she suggested I stop further use and speak to my doctor. I did and I no longer take the drug. I was looking for relief and all I got was increased pain and various side effects that were not there prior to taking the drug.
Re: Daniel L (# 6)
Hi don't worry go for it I'm 66 been on it for 2years as well as methatrecate for 7years with no side affects so try it if it doesn't work for you stop
Re: Daniel L (# 6)
Hi. I also have A S. I have been on 2 kinds of anti tnf injections over the last couple of years and my body did not accept the drug. My rheumatologist recommended Humira. To be extreamly honest I was horrified about what I read. My thoughts were im in so much pain and my A S seems to be controlling me so I gave it a go. NIGHTMARE...I felt worse than ever with pain and stiffness could hardly walk at times. Lack of sleep. Horrendous abdominal pain with swelling and always a sight reaction of swelling redness and it was hot. My rheumatologist nurse advised me to stop. I now await another appointment. Just be careful.
I was on Humira for two month. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and at my age, 76, my doctor told me it was my last hope to slow the procession of the disease. In the two month period, my legs began to hurt badly - more so than ever before, my nerves tinkled (I have a nerve problem for which I take a medication) and I became more and more dizzy and the fatigue was awful- all side effects of Humira. I had a discussion with both the Humira rep and my doctor - both recommended I stop the medication immediately. I was so hopeful that Humira would work, but it did not, at least for me it didn't. In the past I also had trouble with Arava and Methotrexate.
I have had ankylosing Spondylitis for far too many years and it has savaged me. I have now had four shots of Humira. I'm experiencing bad leg pain and weakness an increased alergies and I am light headed to the point I have to go to bed at time (like today). Seriously thinking the disease might be better than the side effects of Humira. First blood test next week and depending on what they find, I may discontinue it. Life's too short to be experiencing these side effects at my age (76). I have just been approved for medical pot and can't wait. If it controls the pain, I'm off Humira for good. It is worthy noting that I did try Humira six years ago - after two shots I had a GI infection and the doc took me off it. So, this is my second and last try.
I've been on HUMIRA AND INTALIPIDS AT ARGC for fertility . I wish I never took the damn thing cause now my periods have stopped and I'm in early menopause because of it. The I got sick whist on it with one infection after another . I challenged the Doc at ARGC and he was abrupt and told me "impossible "when he didn't listen to me that I am actually having these side effects . They will deny all ,so all you women out there who desperately want a child DONT BE FOOLED INTO THIS HUMIRA IMMUNITY STUFF FROM ARGC I WASTED 5 k WITH THESE GUYS AND MY IMMINUTY NEVER CHANGED SO THEY WANTED TO DO A CYCLE OF IVF ANYWAY!
I TOLD THEM TO GO TO HELL AS THEY WASTED A WHOLE YEAR OF MY FERTILITY AT 42-43 NOW MY PERIODS HAVE STOPPED AND I CANT GET ANY EGGS NOW TO DO A CYCLE . They are CRIMMINAL PEOPLE .
THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY FROM YOUR DESPERACY SND MAKE YOU BELIEVE YOU MUST DO THIS IMMUMITY THING . ALSO NOT TO MENTION THE TERRIBLE SERVICE .
HUMIRA is not a safe drug it messes with your body if not immediate it will later on and with your menopause you will have loads of problems . The risk is not worth it !
Today, I took my 8th injection of Humira, still no side effects.....and I'm waiting for them....
I found relief just after my first injection.....I had unexplained swelling of the knee, had an operation on my knee, they cleaned it up inside, but still had the swelling....now, it's gone.....I was not able to sit on the floor cross legged, 'indian style'....or kneel....now, I can....and I can walk for over an hour....before, it was like 10 minutes...of walking for me...so.....so far, so good.
I have blisters on my hands and feet I have psoriasis over the rest of my body never had it before I took humira I also have nerve damage to my hands and feet. I went from working full time to homecare and rns taking care of me and unable to work. This drug is dangerous and life changing. It isn't worth the risk.
Hi I am a 52 year old male living in the UK and I have been taking humira injections every 4 weeks since 2012. I have managed to keep myself fit through exercise which helps the condition.
In February of this year I collapsed at home when my heart stopped beating. This happened another two times whilst the paramedics were present. I have now been informed that I have sick sinus syndrome/bradycardia and I have had to have a pacemaker fitted..
My cardiologist informed me that my heart is strong and healthy for a man of my age and all the tests confirm this, he couldn't understand why this had happened as there was no underlying cause. When I told him I was on humira and he investigated further it became apparent that humira DOES affect the hearts natural pacemaker. My rheumatologist denies this and says it is impossible to say. there is now evidence that the injections do cause this side effect. Although the drug is very effective the side effects can be life threatening.
I took humira and now I am dealing with blisters on my hands feet and legs and now I psoriasis over the rest of my body. My dr said it was the worse case of psoriasis he has seen. I also have nerve damage from my hand and feet. Just in you r wondering I wasn't taking it for psoriasis. I now have home care coming in everyday to take care of because the drug humira has made me so sick I can't take care of myself. The drug is a killer don't take it. Honestly it's not worth the chance.
Just got out of the ICU after three days of terror. Caused my throatvto close, breathing tube etc etc. Humira is not worthbit
I was terrified to take this medication too, in fact, it took my Dr. 6 months to convince me to take it, after reading all the horrible side effects....
I'm due to take my 4th injection, and so far, I've had no side effects...(knock wood) and my swelling and pain in my knee is almost gone, I have an autoimmune disease (they don't know what kind) but I had major swelling in my knee and could barley walk.....had to use a cane for a while, now, I can walk my dogs for 45 minutes twice a day.....I couldn't sit cross legged, now I can.....I literally could not bend my knee, even after I had knee surgery....
It took me 2 weeks, to decided to inject myself, I was scared to death to take it, after reading about, all the side effects....
I did find relief, after just one injection, the next day my swelling and pain had gone down over night......
I'm due to take another one tomorrow, but am still terrified about any side effects...
I've just been prescribed this medication, and I'm terrified to use it.....due to all the side effects...one of them compromising the sight.....
It's been in my fridge for a week.......
I'm about to start injections for psoriasis and have been so nervous. But am suffering so badly that I am hopeful this will help. I scratch my head and it bleeds just like you were talking about. It hurts and I'm so self conscious now that my lifestyle has changed for the worst. Your post gave me more hope!
Hi there! I have been on Humira for approximately 5yrs. Just as yourself I hesitated b/c of the side effects. However when you weigh the pro's and con's every medication that you take has side effects. I had psoriasis everywhere, my scalp I couldn't even run my fingers through my hair because I would bleed from the scabs. I started the Humira to see how long it would take to take effect. I could not believe how quickly it worked for me. Even the Dermatologist was surprised. I had taken 2 inj's. in the one month period, my head was totally clear. Amazing!! I have had no reactions from anything that was listed as a side effect. As I said there are many medications out there that cause problems but they do have to put it on the prescription, it is the law. That does not mean that you are going to get it. Myself, I would say try it, if after 2 needles, this is after you have blood tests and a TB inj. to make sure you are clear. If you find at that point that Humira is not for you then see your Dr. and let he/she know that you are not taking it, with a reason. I do honestly hope that it does work for you. Take care and all the best!!
I thought just like you and had a home run with Humira and prior to it with Enbrel.
Now it looks like I may have skin cancer and I never abused sun in my life. My only mole on my body started growing and changed color! I don't have diagnosis yet! But it does not look good. Side effect Warnings are real! I am getting off it.
