Xanax is a benzodiazepine that carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.
That said, have you ever considered coupling it with another medication to see if it helps keep it under control longer?
Sertraline and Prozac are both SSRI antidepressants that help with anxiety. Their typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth, as listed by the FDA.
It's an option you could discuss with your doctor.
