Savella Used For Depression

Has any one been prescribed savella for depression only? I would like to know how it has worked for you and if you find it helpful. I do not have fibromialga, but do have chronic pain. Thank you for any feedback you can give. I cant find anything out there for just the use of depression and Savella.

I am going to be taking savella for a 12 week trial. If it shows improvement in my major depression, perhaps I will write here again.

I have battled with depression/anxiety for over 20 years. I have recently developed pain, which was diagnosed as arthritis. I have been on Cymbalta for several years and it has helped my depression, however it does not help my arthritis pain or maybe it's fibromyalgia, don't know. Savella helps relieve a lot of pain, but I feel I need Cymbalta for depression and I can't take them together. Am I supposed to decide between depression or physical pain!?

The problem with using them both together is that they both raise Serotonin levels in the brain and that has the potential to lead to Serotonin syndrome, which can be fatal in some cases.

I really hope Cindy was able to find a solution.

It really isn't a matter of picking one or the other, it's about finding medications that you can take, one or more if necessary, that will relieve both conditions.

It may require one antidepressant type medication and something else to treat pain, of perhaps one of the anticonvulsants that can help with pain. There are many other options available, it's just a matter of finding a good doctor to help you and figuring out what works best for you, that's also safe to take.

For instance, Gabapentin successfully helps certain types of nerve pain and it can be taken with most of the antidepressant medications.
