Took my first dose of salsalate, "513" 750. It was prescribed for back pain. I then proceeded to have abdominal pain with back pain. Dry heaving, nothing in my stomach. Did not sleep due to pain. I spent the next day on the couch or in bed, I felt like I had the flu, exhausted, with body aches. Today I am more or less normal just a mild back tension. I will never take Salsalate again. I was better on over the counter 1,000 miligram Bufferin.

Yes, the tablet with the AN 513 marking contains 750mgs of Salsalate, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory.

And Megan is correct, it should be taken with food. These medications are well known to cause such side effects, especially if taken on an empty stomach.
