Are they coated pills?
If the red is due to a coating and there are no markings, then I'm inclined to suspect that they are over the counter 200mg Ibuprofen tablets, since there are several available that match this description.
The FDA lists it as being an NSAID that is most commonly used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation.
