I've not taken it, but I can tell you that case studies have shown that it may help with some mood and anxiety disorders, since it has been shown to have antidepressant properties.
The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, headache, weakness and abdominal pain.
Has your doctor recommended that you try it?
