While I don't have personal experience with this drug, I would like to post many of the possible withdrawal symptoms one might experience when stopping Zoloft:
The first major withdrawal symptom to look out for is dizziness. If you stopped taking Zoloft all of a sudden, you have a high chance of experiences random dizziness. If you have experienced this symptom before you know it is not very pleasant. You will have a hard to staying balanced and feeling alright. There are other symptoms that go along with being dizzy. You can feel dizzy if you stand up quickly from laying down. You can also feel extremely dizzy out of nowhere. A lot of people feel dizzy if they sit up to quickly after laying down for a while. This symptom will make you feel dizzy more often than just sitting up quickly. You have to be very careful if you start to feel dizzy. It would be smart to stay off the road and to just sit down. You can easily fall over and hurt yourself very bad.
Another extreme Zoloft withdrawal symptom is insomnia. This means you will have a hard time falling asleep at night. If you need to take some sleeping aids, you need to consult with your physician to make sure it won’t react badly with the Zoloft that is already in your system.
Night sweats are another common symptom on the Zoloft withdrawal symptoms list. This symptom isn’t too serious but can be very annoying and inconvenient. You can wake up in the middle of the night covered in sweat. When you do wake up all wet, you are usually freezing and shivering because of the cool air on your wet body. This is very inconvenient because most people don’t want to fall back asleep on damp sheets. They then have to get up and change the sheets and the comforter. It is almost easier to simply change rooms you are sleeping in. this can also make it very difficult to go back to sleep at all. This will leave you feeling un-rested and un-refreshed during the next day.
There are a few other sleep disorders you might experience if you are going through a Zoloft withdrawal. If you have stopped taking Zoloft abruptly, instead of weaning yourself off of the drug, you might experience some different sleeping disorders. The most common sleep disorder associated with Zoloft withdrawal is uncontrolled body motions. This can be something like restless leg syndrome but with all of your body parts. If you find yourself constantly changing positions and kicking your legs, you might be feeling this symptom. This can be inconvenient for both you and your partner.
With these symptoms in mind, It's easy to understand how a psychotic episode might be very probable and experienced more often than not. There's been so many law suit commercials on television regarding Zoloft and it's side effects. Hopefully you can attest to this and get your voice heard in some way. I'm not certain where one would begin, but by researching this topic more in depth.
I hope this helps!
Claire, I have! I was on zoloft & ativan (benzodiazepene) for three months & quit cold turkey. It's been a total nightmare & have had bouts of depression, crying, scared depersonalization/derealization heart palpations & many more! Most have subsided but im still going through psychosis @ 8 months off it's gotten a little better hearing light noises. I promise it will fade. did you quit cold turkey?
Hi, thanks so much for telling me about this. I know I'm a bit late in reading this, but what you have said is what I have gone through. All of that, plus feeling like I was being watched all the time. It was pure hell! Now I am in need of finding a legit source for my xanax. I no onger have the same doctor anymore and am finding it impossible to get a doctor that will prescribe it for me.
Take care
Clare
zoloft, as far as I am concerned, is the drug from hell! I was sick the entire time I was getting used to it (4-5 weeks) and sick the entire time I was weaning off of it. I weaned gradually with Dr.'s help, and was still extremely nauseous. What helped lesson the symptons mentally was ashwaghanda, a totally natural supplement, which actually addresses and fixes neurotransmital issues, instead of just masking the symptoms. it has been shown to actually repair and reconstruct the damaged neurotransmitters. takes a month to get in your system and notice affects, so be patient. it is the best thing that ever happened to me, with no side affects! and you can stay on it as long as you like.
Hi Mel, a bit late on your reply, a lot of bad things keep happening to me. I don't know what I did, to have this bad karma keep coming back to me. Anyway, about the zolfot, yes I guess I did quit cold turkey, I think the first week I took maybe two. Than after that, I fugured I don't need to wean off of this drug. Because it's not addictive. Boy was I wrong. I have no memory of what I did to a nurse at the ER when my kids took me in. I was at a mental hospital, kids never thought they would ever see me again. Do you think I shouldn't remember the things I did? Is my mind not letting me remember? Maybe that's it, and my kids refuse to talk about it. I like to know the answers to things, but maybe I shouldn't remember what I did, and said. They had to put me in restaints. And I'm not at all a violent person. Ok, hope to hear from you soon. I'm off to my second doctor appointmebt for today anyway.
Take care
Clare
I know it has been a long time for you, but you should have been weaned off. I am only on 50 mg. If I miss a couple of days, I feel a general rush of tingling going through my head consistently. I get an out of body experience, and have a hard time keeping my thoughts straight. I almost feel paranoia. Weird dreams, restlessness, and doubting yourself. It passes in about 5 days, but you should never have to go through that. Go to an er. it's low on the controlled sub. list, so they'll generally help you. Try advil pm or Nyquil if you are not allergic. Best to you. Ain't this new over controlled system great?
Missed a dose of Klonopin and had a Grand Mal seizure. Afterwards disoriented and stopped 100 mg Zoloft suddenly. Yep. Violent psychotic break. Luckily no one was hurt except me from the original seizure.
I hated Zoloft from the start! The first time I used it I'd just gone to bed and my hole body just jolted upward off the bed like an electric shock. Needless to say, I was shocked! Then when I was dreaming, my head suddenly exploded in my dream! It scared me so bad I, I thought I'd died! I quit taking it and told my doctor what it did, but he didn't believe me.
I went on a search for god and thought that my mom, my fiancé and Pauls mom teamed up against our dads and won the battle over a legal suit that created us to be rich and own everything. In town Portland was a different way of living out in the sticks. Portland area was for the sinners and people on drugs or needed heath facility's; and windham where the shakerville is was for us God like people that chose marijuana/non medicated over meds. And if I were to take meds it'd be letting the devil in my life. I thought that I had won the war that this life has been battling since Christ. The devil had his area and us goddesses had ours. Eventually Paul crossed over to being good. But I thought people were out to kill me and my family or out distracting my family when I was in panic. I thought that our society, the whole ****ing world went to war and that I had won the battle. Because I would stand through the hardest days and nights someone could only imagine. I was lost at sea and never knew if I'd come back. I went to spring harbor like this and thought that inside were my helpers my family members from down the line. I called every ****ing one that would talk to me and told them my thinkings. But it sounded too good that people didn't know what the f*** was up. Spring harbor let me leave while I was still 100% delusional. If the cops came they would just talk me out of my panic attack/suicidal thinking or I'd go to the ER and they would take me in and release me after I slept and came back to. But without having a doctor or psychiatrist this delusional land mine I was in was one of the most mind altering horrific things that has EVER ****ing happened to me. Now, how am I supposed to just accept this. Oh it's my fault I almost died and lost every aspect in my life BEC I signed up for some anxiety/depression relief. This is not ****ing okay for me to just dust off. I need answers and I need them now.
