Prolonged Side Effects Of Metronidazole

I was on Metronidazole for 7 days & finished it 3 days ago. I experienced some nausea & even vomited a couple of times while taking it but now that I am not taking it anymore I have been having strong stomach cramps off and on & as of today I also have very watery diarrhea. Is it normal to be having side effects associated with this antibiotic this long after finishing it??

Yes, that is normal. If it lasts more than a week, or if it gets worse, you should consult your doctor.

But as explained by the NIH, antibiotics don't just eradicate the harmful bacteria in your body, they eradicate all bacteria, both good and bad. Thus, once your finish your course of treatment, these effects can still linger in your body and it will take a few days for things to balance back out and get back to normal.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

You are very lucky to be having the normal side effects . It can cause extreme nausea and diarrhea it should pass with in 3 to 5 days

I took diflucan first a pill for yeast infection and then three days later I took another 150 mG and things got really bad ,almost fainted several times,got vertigo,vomitted over and over,diareia ,hot flashes,flu. Then I took,metro gel for bv for five days and got very sick again,same symptoms and feet and hands numb and tingly,bad anxiety,panic attacks can't get out of bed ,bad dizzy spells ,brain foggy and no help from doctors!!!
