Pristiq Did Anyone Succesfull Stopped With It

Till now I can't find any story about someone who succesfully stopped with taking pristiq.

I was on 50 mg for 4 years and I took 3/4 for about 3 1/2 months. That went fine. Then another 3 1/2 months I took a half. Also that went fine. (in both situations I needed some weeks with some side effects but not too bad). Now I started with a quarter and the side effects are huge. I have a constant pain in my head. I sweat a lot and so on. (I know it's not good to cut the tablets but the first two steps were ok for me).

We all know how we suffer to get off from pristiq so I hope there are some people with possitive results in stopping with it.

What I really want to know is this :
Does anyone succesfully stopped and HOW LONG did you need before the side effects were gone.

Hi Martin,

I'm bipolar and was on 400mg Pristiq for 2.5 years and started weaning off it on 20 Aug when my doctor suggested Brintellix might work better for me. I started taking 10mg Brintellix at the same time as I dropped the Pristiq dose by 50mg at a time (350mg/day in first week, 300mg/day in second week). Very few problems; just a headache and minor mood swings the second morning after dropping a dose.

By two weeks in, I realised that I felt much better under the Brintellix and started dropping the Pristiq by 50mg every 3 days, then every 2 days. I'm now on 100mg/day and expect to be off it entirely by early next week! Total time taken; 25 days!! No real side effects of note!!

BTW, you should avoid splitting Pristiq tablets; all you're doing is breaking the slow-release coating and allowing the drug to drown your system all at once before it is metabolised within the next few hours and does nothing. A very unstable chemical base for your brain... :)
