Prevent Drowsiness When On Xanax

Hi, i'm on 1mg xanax daily, and i have to attend lectures twice a week each lecture lasts 2hrs. I usually doze off during the lectures, how can i stay awake in class?

If you are on 1 mg of Xanax daily, take it at night?

My doc just prescribed lorazepam as a replacement for Xanax. The Xanax just knocked me out...FAST. Supposedly, the lorazepam gives a more sustained reduction in anxiety. Not quite so rocket ship up & back down. I don't know about the drowsiness factor yet myself though. Since it's Saturday & I don't have anything critical planned, I'm going to try a mid dose in the range my doc prescribed. I'm really hoping for anxiety reduction WITHOUT the extreme drowsiness/sleepiness that I get with Xanax. So, in a nutshell, Xanax ALWAYS causes drowsiness for me. I'm glad to know that there are other options available. Maybe a convo with your doc is due?

I found Lorezapam terrible and it caused even more of a sedative effect, just didn't work on Anxiety in the same manner
