Did Pristiq cause your heart to go into A-Fib, or was your heart in A-Fib before starting Pristiq? I have a history of A-Fib and have been on Pristiq for a month and a half. So far, no A-Fib......Has anybody's heart gone into A-Fib as a result of taking Pristiq?

The only thing I can say about this drug is WOW what a difference... I have only been on it for a little while but My changes were like night and day. I think most of it has to do with lifestyle changes. I myself made no changes since I am an avid health food junky and exercise everyday. sometimes changing too much too fast is the biggest problem. I pair it with Seroquel at night for insomnia and Xanax 4 times daily for Anxiety. I lived with Anxiety and Depression my whole life and to finaly find something that worked was Heavenly. But I agree with the comment about seeing a Psychiatrist. Some people are damaged beyond theraputic repair and accepting that medication will always be a part of my life was the biggest step. I am really glad I found this site...I have been on lexapro for about 5 years...I do not know if it lost some of it effect, but I starting crying all of the time...so, my doctor put me on Prestiq...I have the jitters a lot...I have had anxiety in the past and feel like they want to come back...I tried Cymbalta...that was HORRIBLE... will never take that again...I have a feeling I am going to have to try something else...it looks like my blood pressure is going up as well on this medicine...anyone else having that problem?

They took me off Pristique about 2 weeks ago I was taking over 100mg every morning. And apparently after changing doctors I found out that the pristique was a big factor in my rage and constant depression and anxiety due to the reaction with my Lithium. But as I said its been weeks and the withdraw from the med is horrible ..and there is nothing they can do apparently to help ease the constant sickness, dizziness, and jittery weak feeling. Does anyone have any Ideas how long this takes ..because its seems to come in waves ..

hi i am on prestique and i was depressed so my doctor decided i should take it i was the ginny pig for this new drug and i am already 120 lbs and i must lost 20 i wasnt eating and didnt want to do nothing i was in a daze that is not for me i stick till the volume is there a better choice

I have been on prestique for 3 months, it helped with depression , not anxiety. If I miss a dose I actually sleep but also have terrible dreams. I know for sure it will be awful to stop taking

....long story short version...... been depressed/manic for many years, have been on numerous cocktails, including Effexor.
Just started taking Prestique (50mg) and am feeling very strange..... so much so i may not take any more. Is it worth it?

I have been weaned off of Cymbalta and my Dr. wants me to take Prestique. I have been crying at the drop of a hat, unable to get along with anyone that crosses me, weaning off of the Cymbalta. Do you really like the Prestique compared to the Cymbalta?

I was switched to Pristque after taking Zoloft. I had the worse sweats at night. I had to change my bed clothes every day. I was depressed, stayed in my room, isolated myself from everyone. It caused a bad heart murmur.Each of our systems are different. What works for one may not work for another. I'm back on my Zoloft and I'm a happy person again. God Bless each of you, Stay well.

It is the best thing I have ever found to heip keep me mentally healthy, better than any therapists I've ever gone to. In the past I have been so low that I tried to kill myself, I'm so glad I never succeeded. I've been very happy for 5 years, the group has taught me to change my thinking. You owe it to yourself to try.

stay away from Prestiq! I am a 35 year old mother of two i am married i have been suffering from anxiety and depression for about five years now. I jus went cold turkey off Prestiq why you ask well like others the first week i felt wonderful even quit smoking because it made them taste like fish, (only good thing from this drug) i had stomach cramps, nausea but it was not bad and I lost 7 pounds. but after week one i started to have more anxiety attacks blurred vision and felt like the meds just stopped working I talked to my Dr and she increased the dosage from 25 to 50 i was in the er 2 days later! i felt horrible i actually could not walk! Found out it was do to to much Prestiq. My dosage was then put back to 25 and did not appear to help but still had the side effects. So i decided i was gonna quit it! Big mistake! i went cold turkey i was so dizzy for 2 days i fell twice, i am still dizzy at times but it only last a few minutes at a time, my blood pressure shot up and stayed up for three days i was severly nauseated for 2 days i could not get outta bed the second day and the headaches were awful! My legs were weak and it felt like i was getting the flu... Day 4 i feel 100% better feel even better than i did before the Prestiq! Still a little dizzy but not bad and i have faith that that too shall pass! I thank God and my family for helping me thru this! I honestly had a period where i wanted to give up! so if you are thinking about taking prestiq or any other med, please research it first! And please forgive my spelling!

o! also had periods where it felt like my throat was closing up like it had a knot in it this was during prestiq and during the with drawals but it is not as often now and not as severe.

I'm on prestique after my divorce I felt awesome for a while but now I'm down in the dumps and tried to od on cough syrup a week ago does anyone have any suggestions on what I could take please help before I loose everything.

One day I forgot to take Prestique. I no longer was staring at the T.V. I actually felt different. I recognized that I was being active. I forgot what a daily routine was like and not having to think about brushing my teeth, but actually getting up from the couch and DOING IT. How did I change so drastically? I gradually weaned myself off and am functioning without being sluggish and accomplishing things i.e. house work, attending to my appearance, etc.

Prestique may be helpful to others, but I'm glad I missed a dosage which enabled me to realize the negative change that occurred.

I also recently stopped taking this drug and experienced severe dizziness. They warn about discontinuation symptoms - and they should. These are some of the most severe withdrawl symptoms I have ever experienced. It took me 3 WEEKS until the dizzy spells and heart palpitations subsided. The most sever symptoms seemed to occur from 48 hours to 72 hours after the final dose. Then they gradually became less frequent over the next 3 weeks... I would recomend that NO ONE take this medication unless you absolutely have to. This is powerful stuff that will affect the chemical / electrical activity in your brain... it is no joke. Discontinuation symptoms are almost inevitable, since the smallest dose is 50mg - and due to the delayed release capsul you can not cut these in half... They say that if the symptom occur -start taking the drug again... laughable advise... Good marketing idea for the drug company - sad reality for the patient.

I started Prestiq a month ago after taking Effexor for about 8 years...I love it...it is working great! I started with Paxil about 15 years ago and it worked great, but I gained weight. I switched to Effexor and it was fine, but it was fantastic. We have tried everything else out there (to the Prosac guy - I tried Prosac and felt the same way you did on Prestiq....I am an administrator as well...take what feels right to you and don't worry about what other people tell you.) Anyway, this is the only other prescription besides Paxil and Effexor that has worked with me, and I think I am doing better on it than the other two.

My son was prescribed Pretique at the age of 14. He is not taking it any longer, but has started with shaky hands from time to time. He is now 17 & has been off of the drug for over a year now. The doctor who prescibed the mediation said it was fairly new at that time & would be safe, but I keep seeing all the advertisements saying just the opposite. Could these two things be related?
