the dr changed my med from effexor to this prestiq.can you tell me anything about it

Ive been taking prestiq for 4 weeks. After the first week, I was nauseous for about a week. This was the only side effect I had. During the third week, I started having very positive effects and feel great now. My energy level is back where I think it should be and my attitude and mood couldn't be better.

When you take Prestiq be prepared to have weird dreams frequently. Also Prestiq gives U a dry mouth (so chew gum). makes U slightly nauseous (that goes away in 2 to 3 days), makes U a bit fatigued (also goes away in 2 to 3 days). Those are my results in first 8 weeks taking Prestiq. Now I feel fine.
Remember every person is different, no one drug fits all.

My only complaint is the outrageous cost of this Prestiq. Its a rip-off. Drug Companies are legalized bandits and greedy.
Compared to the manufacturers in the electronics industry, For example INTEL who makes the central processor chips for most of the world's computers, must invest $1 to $2 billion each time they design and produce a new chip. Yet within 12 to 18 months on the market the price of that chip falls dramatically .

This never happens with drugs the drug companies produce. Since they are protected by trademark (license), which allows them to rip-off the public for years.

John - I am glad to hear you stuck it out with the Prestig. See, at first it did seem like it wasn't working and now you feel great. That is how it was with me. Good Luck. I wish you the best.

I just started the pill today. I feel a little shakey. I took a nap and woak up with having had bad dreams. I have been on prozac, and feel that itsnt working for me anymore. I hope I do not gain weight on prestiq. Other than that, I dont feel sick to my stomach so Ill give it a try for a few months! I am worried about my sexual drive. Never had one on prozac hope I have one on pretiq.... ANyone else have the problem I am having no sexual drive and does pretiq help?

In the last three months I have tried Paxil, Prozac, and Prestiq. None of wich I seem to be able to take. This was the first time I have been on an antidepressant. They all had the same side effects with me. The worst being upset stomach and excessive tiredness to the point that I could not function at work, and when I got home from work, I would just want to sleep. And the yawning, it was non stop. It was embarassing to constantly be yawning at work.
Also while on the pristiq I was really irritable and felt more depressed then before I was on it.

I have been on this mecication for 1 year. I am getting frustrated, short tempered and have no sexual drive. My next step is to get off this medication. I will be at the doctors soon to see if he can help me get off of this drug. I want to be drug free.

I've been taking Prestiq 50 for several months with no changes at all. My depression started when I took Interferon for Hepatitis C which was a success but the side effects never went away so I have been plagued with depression, anxiety, wishing I would die, chronic fatigue, flu like symptoms, just horrible joint pain. Since starting Prestig from celexa I get electrical shooting sensations in my head every few seconds. I just am at the end of my rope...literally

I have a teenage daughter who is dealing with major depression..she has been on zoloft (which didn't work at all) Lexapro (which didn't work much either) Cymbalta, then a combination of Cymbalta & Wellbutrin....this seemed to help for awhile but seems its effects have tapered off...her doctor is now putting her on Pristiq, along with the wellbutrin....I really hope this works for her...I've dealt with depression myself so I know how she feels....she also has a low self-steem & a self-image problem....she is not big at all, she's an athlete, but she sees herself much differently than others do....I hope so badly that this medication can give her some relief!! she is a great kid!!! Does anyone else have a child Prestiq???

Horrible nightmares and when awake out of body experiences-now Xanax isn't controlling panic attacks and my hands and legs are swelling-couldn't get shoes on this morning. Not for me!

I am talking about Prestiq 50 mg
Horrible nightmares, out of body experiences, Panic attacks even with Xanax and edema in hands and feet ankles etc. Not for me!

Starting on Prestiq today. Very nervous about it. Being weened off Celexa (down to 40mg. from 80mg.)
The worst side effect for me would be the sleepiness as I have CFS and am on Provigil which helps.
Wish me luck....

Another thing is that I am very sensitive to drugs ( a real cheap date) and am wondering if I could take half. Anyone ever try that or would that not be considered enough of a therapeutic dose ough to see any results?

I started taking the medication (prestique 50 mg once a day) in December 08 and recently decided that things were going well and I was ready to discontinue taking it. Plus I am planning to get pregnant and I didn't want to be on it. NOw I was such an advocate for the drug the entire time I have been taking it! It worked wonders! I felt great, no worries! UNTIL.....I tried to stop taking it......I am currently miserable dealing with withdraws. This is the worst thing I have ever gone through. I wake up thinking ok, i'm going to feel good today, maybe this is over, but within hours I am nausiated, dizzy and extremely tired. I have been concerned that I would fall asleep at the wheel! The dr prescribed me some medicationt to help with the nausousness, however, it makes me even more tired. So really unable to function AT ALL! If you are considering this drug, please choose another one.

Does prestiqu work like cymbalta?
Should you use the conbination of Wellbutrin with it?

Just started Prestiq 3 days ago. Dr. prescibed for anxiety and depression.I hope my days of feeling tired at work all day and going strait to bed when I get home are over. I will let you know in a couple of weeks. Dr. says it will take up to 3 weeks to get the full affect.

After trying Paxil for months, my doc had me try Pristiq and I think it's highly effective at treating depression. Good luck having the insurance comp cover it. Now, I have to try effexor B4 I can get my Pristiq :(

I have been taking prestiq for 3 months. My anxiety and depression have been helped tremendously however I am experiencing some foggyness and I'm not really tired but I can sleep all the time. I really have to try not to sleep 12 hours and I could nap through out the day.

I have been on Prestiq for 3 weeks now. I was on 187.5 mg of effexor I was bumped up from 150 because I felt the efficacy of effexor was wearing off (anxiety wise) I am a 19 year old small-medium sized person So I 187.5 mg was alot it seemed, especially the Jaw Clenching would not end! Anyways Prestiq does not seem as effective, anxiety becomes triggerd more easily, low grade constant head ache and more vivid and weird dreams then I had with effexor. I wonder if i am having eassier triggers to My anxiety is because the 50 mg of prestiq he put me on is not enough considering I was on 187.5 of effexor.

I have been on Prestiq for approx. 8 months and I am going to the doctor to stop. Worked great at first then after 4 months I noticed I became very short tempered, and I became numb as far as feeling anything, I just did not care. I lost interest in things that I really use to enjoy. I have noticed periods of heavy sweating without any physical activity. Does anyone know what type of side effects you have when stopping this medication?
