Precautions Before Surgery

Having surgery and I need to know if any of the following have blood thinners in them: sertraline, omeprazole, benazepril, atorvastatin, or hydrochlorothiazide?

Hi Ron,

Just for your information:

- Sertraline is an antidepressant
- Omeprazole is for acid reflux / heart burn
- Benazepril is an ACE inhibitor used for hypertension
- Atorvastatin is used to lower cholesterol
- Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic

Of the meds that are mentioned above, none are classified as anticoagulants - HOWEVER - Benazepril reportedly works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily. So this is something I would encourage you to discuss with your surgeon ahead of time - just to be on the safe side.
