Prazosin Alternatives
UpdatedWhat is the generic form of prazosin, or prazosin alternatives/substitutes (when prescribed for PTSD or anxiety)?

Prazosin is also minnipress, I've been on it for years for PTSD and it works wonderful
@Debbie,
Minipress is the brand/trade name and Prazosin is the generic name.
As far as alternatives go, Prazosin is an "alpha blocker" - [which according to NIH is indicated for treating hypertension], so looking into other drugs of the same classification may be your best bet. The way it lowers blood pressure is by relaxing blood vessels. So I'd imagine that this mechanism is what would have a direct effect on anxiety or PTSD.
I don't believe all blood pressure meds work in the same manner (e.g. beta blockers / diuretics), but it goes without sayin' that lower blood pressure levels essentially = lower anxiety levels.
Perhaps your doctor can give you a trial run of different options to find out what works best.
