Pharmacist Refused To Fill Comlete Pain Meds Script
UpdatedHas anyone else had trouble getting their pain meds filled? I am a pain management patient and when the new law went into effect Walgreens refused to fill all of my script. Told me I fit the profile of an addict. I've been a customer of theirs for years and it was never a problem before the new law. A pharmacist iisn't a doctor what gives them the right to decide how many pills I get? Changed pharmacies and thinking about getting an attorney.

Hello, Oldilocks! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you've had.
It might be due to how much it was written for, since there are limits on how much of any controlled substance can be prescribed, except in the cases of those who have intractable pain from a possibly terminal condition, such as stage 4 cancer.
If the prescription exceeds the accepted quantity, they have the right to refuse to fill it, or to only partially fill it.
I understand why you're upset, but there's really nothing you can do about it. I wish I had better news for you, but I don't.
Have you informed your doctor? They may be able to prescribe different medications or different dosages to avoid this problem.
Hello Vernon!
Thank you for your reply!
Walgreens had been filling my script for that same amount prior to the new law. The law only changes how the prescription is written not how its filled. I found another pharmacy in town that had no problems filling it. My doctor and I have worked together for a long time and due to drug allergies there's not a lot out there for me. Sure can't afford surgery. I've been on some of the high powered pain meds and I want to function not be doped up!.
Actually, Walgreens has been getting very funny about filling them, recently.
They've got a new "Good Faith" list and people who've had them filled once under it can't ever do so, again. It's like their personal store flagging system.
There've been a lot of complaints about them recently.
Thus, you might be better of sticking with another pharmacy.
Are there any other questions or concerns?
Haha about the lawyer part. U may as well 4get it. My Dr had me on 100mg fentynl EVERY 24 HRS Not 72 hrs. Plus 6 80mg oxys daily. 3 wks ago I walked in and bcuz the police have been all over him. bcuz we buried 18 ppl in last 2 yrs. And I live in a town that doesn't even have 1 stop light. So bcuz he's now afraid. 3 wks ago he cut me off cold turkey. Well I stopped breathing 3 day's later!! Luckily my mom was visiting and had a puffer in her suitcase. Otherwise I wouldn't be typing this right now. Hubby and mom gave me more than 30 zaps of it, not the strictly only 2 puffs. We don't know how they kept my airways open the 20 mins it took for all the firefighters to turn up with oxygen tanks on their backs till ambulance arrived. We don't know how the puffers helped considering I was NOT even able to suck it into my lungs. Perhaps the massive amounts they were giving me somehow a few got thru! This Dr even fondled me VERY BADLY twice. It was like he owned me and he knew it. And we cannot find a lawyer to take my case! Bcuz as soon as you mention oxys or the patch. U r labeled!
However as far as ur *****ic pharmacist. Ummmm yeah that's abit bizarre bcuz anyone who is on percs or oxys for longer than even 2 short months. Even without abusing them are addicted!!!! But being dependent on what ur i**** already knows on your own medication and abusing your meds are 2 complete diff thing's. Are you sure they said you're showing signs of addiction or did they say drug abuse. Bcuz here in Canada at least. It's against the law for any pharmacy to refuse ANY RX even if they suspect abuse. They can talk to ur Dr about their concerns but ONLY the Dr can tell them not to fill something. But if u have a legit Rx.it absolutely MUST BE FILLED! !! I would think it's the exact same in the U.S bur since I'm not American I can't really say for sure. It's almost 4am. So I'm sorry for any typos. Can hardly see my phone right now as I type. Anyway I doubt I was of any help. But I did try. I really do wish you all the luck and success. Ohhh BTW. Those 6 oxys daily went down my toilet bowl for the past 2 yrs. I tell everyone not to drink their water bcuz the water in town is filled with 5000 80mg oxys lmao.
Why waste money on an attorney, thank mr. Obama for the changes and the pharmacist doing there job.
Yes, also at avWalgreens, the pharmacist refused to fill my prescription for suboxone, once because it was 3 days esrly, the next time because it was supposed to be taken for drug addiction and I was having it prescribed for pain, in order to stay off morphine I had been taking for 10 years, so he decided on his own it wasn't taken it as a drug addict. That's crazy, he isn't not a doctor.
