is there a medication for it and when should one resort to a procedure like draining?

I am not finding any information on specific medications and the treatment protocol will vary, depending on what has caused the condition. For instance, if it's because someone has Lupus, then NSAID medications may help.

And drainage is usually reserved for severe cases, where it is causing compromise of the heart function.
