Percocet Withdrawal- Weird Ones (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have taken hydrocodone for years and then changed to Percocet. Ive been taking it for a year and a half. From 20-40 mg a day. This is the end of day 2 withdrawing from it. Ive had weird symptoms such as watery mouth, chapped lips, burning feeling in stomach, nausea, more hungrier than usual, anxiety, crying, leg pain, decrease in sleeping. I will fall asleep and wake up and stay up after a couple hours. Has anyone had similiar symptoms?

I forgot to add that im having these electric shock sensations thats worse when walking. They are like zaps.
Hello, Trish! How are you?
First of all, what were you taking?
Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, it is only available in a maximum dosage of 10mgs of the Oxycodone and 325mgs of the Acetaminophen. There is no 20 or 40mg dosages of it.
Were you taking just straight Oxycodone?
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
And those really aren't weird symptoms for withdrawal, they are actually very common. I experienced all of them, when I went cold turkey off of pain medications on pain management. The pain is due to rebound pain, which can sometimes be worse than the pain you were taking it to treat.
Not wierd thats common
Id take 10 mg 3 times a day or 10 mg and break one in half. Anyway, its been 4 days and im not having any problems. I take percocet for back injuries. I just got it refilled and had very scary heart palpatations. Is that normal? Anyone know?
There is no need to suffer withdrawals when you stop taking Percocet. I was taking 30-40 mg per day until some scumbag stole 60 of them. Understandably, the doctor couldn't issue another script, but she prescribed the Clonodine .1 mg patch, Clonazepam and Tramadol. The withdrawal symptoms were nearly NONE. I slept well and didn't feel "squirrelly." It was amazingly easy to get through, and the only regret is not having such a "kit" in the past when facing withdrawals.
The withdrawals only lasted 2 days. After that, I was fine. Happy and laughing and a few days later I got my refill. After taking the first pill I had scarey heart palpatations. The pharmacist said it was normal after going so long without it.
The "electric shock" feelings could be Clonus, which is sudden, involuntary contraction of muscles. Do some research if this continues. Clonus can also be brought on by the overuse of muscle relaxants. I had these sudden contractions accompanied by a shocking sensation in muscles all over me, but when I quit taking so many muscle relaxants, the problem vanished. By the way, a two-day withdrawal is practically unheard of, so consider herself lucky!
