Pain Medications Mgs Of Opiates

I have a Spinal Injury (Cervical and Lumbar) Va Doctor Treated. Was on Percacet 5/325 for 4 years, Dr. placed on Oxycodone 15mg for 16 months. Switched VA facilities and new doctor has Opiate concerns and switches me before even reviewing my records because of her belief of no Opiate treatments to 5mg Oxycodone(Tolerance levels made them like aspirin) stating additional Insaids and Anti-inflammatory should do the job. After 9 months and many conversations, she still says she is concerned about Opiate abuse and will not increase me because of addiction fears. How do I express that I know my body is addicted but, at least with the 15mg I would relieve some of the pain. As it is now I just have enough Opiate in me for the body to need it, but not enough to be effective as a pain relief. If I am addicted I would rather have the Relief than just the bodies addiction. Other Insaids /Anti-inflammatory are not helping with the pain in any significant way and I have expressed that to no avail. Can Someone please tell me how to express this or get past it?

Re: CHAZ (# 2)
She should be turned in to authorities. Despite the politics of the hour, opiates do have a place in medicine. Ask her to prove that you are addicted. Ask for another doctor. You have screwed around with her fears for long enough. It is time to escalate this to her bosses, up to POTUS.
Thank you... And yes I have tried that approach. She is a Dr. who is just dead set against Opiats. I will try that approach again with the Proper evidence bacing it up. Maybe it will sway her. Who knows. Thank you! ANYONE ELSE?
Hello, Chaz! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in so much pain.
From what I garner from your post, it seems to me that both you and your doctor are confusing addiction and dependence.
Dependence occurs with anything that you ingest regularly, from a necessary medication to a morning cup of coffee. Your body gets used to having that substance added regularly and a sudden withdrawal will cause some mild withdrawal effects. As listed by the FDA they may include nausea, fever chills, rebound pain, headache and diarrhea.
However, addiction is entirely different. Addiction happens, when someone likes the way a certain medication, such as Oxycodone, makes them feel, the high and/or energetic feeling that some people get from it. These effects are only side effects, to they eventually wear off, as their body gets used to this substance being added regularly, which results in them needing to take more and more to get those effects back. That is why many people end up abusing drugs and becoming addicts. They like the way they make them feel, they aren't taking them in therapeutic doses. A sudden withdrawal from high amounts can be very dangerous, even to the point of causing seizures and/or death.
I'm not sure if it will help, but you could try discussing this issue with your doctor. There are many websites that confirm this information, including FDA pages and the NIH.
Oxycodone is classified as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Does anyone else have any ideas that may help?
