Pain Management Accepting Patients Under 25 Pinellas County (Top voted first)
UpdatedI am looking for a PM clinic in Pinellas County, preferably St. Petersburg. I have 2 herniated discs in my lower back and another in my neck from totalling my car in 2011. I was going to a family physician during my settlement, but the medication he gave me was short lived as I had to take way more than instructed. This also lead to me being very itchy and throwing up anything I drank/ate. I have been sucking it up for the passed 2 years. I am now working 2 jobs in a kitchen where I am on my feet, in hard tile, all day long 12-16 hours a day 4-5 days a week. I am in excruciating pain. My problem is and has been for the passed 2-3 months is finding someone who will accept me being under 25 years old (22). If ANYONE has any advice for me
Please share. I am tired of being in bed all day on my days off because of this. It is causing me to become depressed and unhappy with life.

Hi, Jason! Sorry that you're so miserable, no one should have to suffer.
Do you currently have a GP that you see regularly?
With the new regulations that went into effect as of April 1st, which are especially strict in Florida, having them refer you to someone would most likely be your best at getting someone to accept you as a patient, since you're so young.
No I do not. I did have a family practitioner two years ago roughly. I only went 5-6 months though. I stopped going because the only thing he did that actually helped was the half hour massages. By the next day the pain would be back. My entire left shoulder, above my shoulder blade, and left side of my neck was constantly knotted in the same spots everytime I would go in. They noticed the same. The knots feel as if they're only getting worse now, and seems like it goes up to my neck and down, around, the right side of my left shoulder blade. Down into or under the blade?? Sorry if that's confusing.. Could the knotting be from the herniated discs or do you think its something else? His staff was very nice, but his actual office was unorganized. The medication he RX'd me did very little to ease the pain. At the time, I did not want to ask for anything stronger as I thought the physical therapy would eventually help more. He used some machine that vibrated the hell out of my bones basically. Half of the time I would walk out in even more pain, but he insisted that he kept using whatever that machine is called. Thank you for your help.
I see this is an old post but Dr Libreros in Palm Harbor is a neurologist that will write for pain meds to younger patients also.
