Oxycodone Withdrawal From Lowering Mg Per Day
UpdatedI'm wondering if I'll have any kind of withdrawals going from 120 mg of Oxycodone a day down to 60 mg a day or will things be fine since I'll still have it in my system?

Yes, you will likely experience some minor withdrawal effects, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, rebound pain and chills.
That's a pretty big drop, it's usually best to do a slow, gradual taper.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Thank you very much. Do you know about how long that will last?
I went down from 120 mg Oxycodone to 60 mg & I'm going on my first 24 hrs with only a single 20 mg pill left can someone please tell me what I can do about withdrawals for 2 days & detox isn't an option for me...Thank you
You can take Imodium. That will really help take the edge off.
Thank you...I will try that. Can you tell me why Imodium? I'm just curious because I've never heard of that...I appreciate any advice that can be given. I don't understand why people think that anyone would "want" to be tied to a medicine that will put you thru pure hell if you don't take it or can't get it. I get so tired of being judged by people that don't even know me. If an Aspirin would help me I'd gladly get off of this Oxycodone & take the Aspirin, at least my life wouldn't revolve around this medication & I wouldn't always have the worry of what I will go thru if I didn't have it...

The active ingredient in Immodium is actually a synthetic opiate that works only on the opiate receptors in you stomach area, hence why it works for diarrhea .The reason its an otc drug is because it does not cross the blood brain barrier, therefore will give you no type of a "high" whatsoever, but it will help ease withdrawal in most people, and will definitely take care of the diarrhea part of withdrawals. From what ive read, in very high doses or combined with certain other things it can cross the blood brain barrier But I wouldn't recommend doing that unless you thoroughly researched it first .
I am tapering down. I've been on 60mg for 2 weeks anyways I have 40mg left until my refill tomorrow. I feel like crap. What the best way to take the 40 I have left till tomorrow? All at once before bed or 1-2 through the day? Please help
That's a lot to b cut they should go maybe 120 to 100 then slowly get to 60 sorry they did that to you.I'm on 120 a day(6 -20s) and two 30s morphine time release I have severe OA hips replaced knees next it sucks
Yes your taper should be around 5% per week that's how your brain adjusted u should drop about 12 mg that first week 50% drop u will definitely have withdrawl depletion of dopamine causes depression and flu like sickness anxiety you have taken away the synthetic opiate amount your brain was used to dropped faster than it can compensate for why are you being the doctor anyway go to a specialist that knows about real safe and healthy tapering most doctors don't have a clue their training in addiction is about a week out of 10-12 yrs of schooling God bless recovering addict bob m
I have been prescribed 10-325 mg Oxycodone/acetaminophin 4xday for the past 10 years at least - what is the best way to taper down and get off completely? Instead of 1 full pill every 4 hours I have been doing 1/2 every 3-4 hours along with naproxen/acetaminophen, trying to spread the doses out as much as possible. Any suggestions of OTC help?
So sorry, I think yes. Horrible, thanks to the CDC and President Trump doesn't have a clue. He needs to end this madness. He thinks he's saving lives. Maybe he needs a taste of what it's like. My guess is it would change in a hurry. Very disappointed in his tough love support. But we're American's, were tough,we'll make it through this right.
