Opiate Withdrawal Remedies (Top voted first)
UpdatedI've been on oxycodone 15mgs 4 times a day for about 4 months due to a pancreatic pseudocyst and multiple surgeries. My health has dramatically gotten better but I still suffer from scar tissue damage from all the surgeries and E.R.C.P's. I feel that i wont be needing the pain medicine any longer? So my question is what is the best method to stop the oxycodone without the terrible withdrawal? And are Benzodiazepines a good choice? If so, which ones work most effectively and how should i dose them? Plz help, because just the thought of stopping the oxycodone causes major anxiety and panic attacks. Also i no longer have a Dr. who prescribes narcotics or subutex\suboxone.. No doctor will consider giving me any habit forming substance. Please help with any and all suggestions, ty!

I always use tramadol 100mg 3 to 4 at a time, for at least a week.... And you will not suffer any from withdrawal, it tricks the brain.....
Hi playbeezy,
I'm in withdrawal myself now. My dr. has reduced my meds by more than a half. A taper is best if you enough meds. My dr had me reduce by 10% every 3 or 4 days. So it would be 1 15 every 6 hours. Then 15 half 15 15 15, then 15 half 15 half 15 15, then 15 half 15 the next 3 dose. Then half all 4 doses then half every 8 hours, half every 12. Then none. Some drugs that help are clonidine, not klonipin. Promethazine for the nausea. But if you can do the taper over a month, you shouldn't have a lot of withdrawal. Good luck.
Hello, Playbeezy! I'm very sorry about the health issues you've experienced.
The best thing to do would be to slowly taper off of the Oxycodone, by starting to lower the amount you take and by taking it further apart. Any doctor should be able to help you set up an appropriate taper schedule.
Benzodiazepines also carry the risk of being habit forming, so they may not be the best choice to try. The FDA reports they can also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.
Does anyone else have any ideas or suggestions?
For everyone looking for a way to come off opiates and mitigate withdrawal symptoms, a slow taper is always best but I know that's not always an option for a lot of people due to losing their doctor etc. I recommend ordering some Kratom online. I have used this plant many times and have avoided 90% of withdrawal symptoms. No nausea, rls, diahrrea, etc. I order online from kratom one and order their tri force blend. I take around a tablespoon and feel so much better when detoxing. I'm sure it doesn't work for everyone but it is 100% legal and definitely worth trying. Best of luck and hang in there!
Does tylenol 3 help with opiate withdrawal? I'm not a person to take drugs but I've been taking hydrocodone for a few years due to a broken back. I just recently started going to a pain doctor and they overlapped my visits and I'm in pain and having withdrawals.
Tylenol 3 does have codeine in it, which is in opiate so it should help with some of your withdrawal symptoms. It is not as strong as the hydrocodone you are used to taking so you still may have some withdrawal symptoms but not nearly as severe as if you were taking nothing.
Hello I've been. in the same boat and it can make you feel over welled but relax,I know that the thought og going through pw is scarry but with my experience I tapered of the pain meds and yes benzos help ,,alot I suggest 2 mg xanax bc they are strong and will help you sleep and make those crazy "body s be a little easier also try to obtain a sleep medication such as Doxepin.I know you don't feel like eating or even drinking anything but make yourself eat and drink something because that contributes to feeling so bad,I hope this helpef Best of luck
I'm coming off opiates and need help. What medication will help best? What are the pros and cons to each way to detox?
Does Tylenol 3 help with Norco withdrawal? I only take 3 a day but just want to be sure. It seems to help though I'm not sure if it's in my head or not.
I ran out of oxycodone and the doctor didn't refill my prescription. I've been taking it for quite a few years and right now I am very sick from not taking it and my pain is very bad. Is there anything that I can do to help me through this?
Any suggestions on how to quit taking Vicodin without going through bad withdrawal? I've been taking them for 12 years at a dose of 5/325 mg.
My doctor put me on 10 mg Percocet 10 years ago. The Tylenol in the five a day 10-325 Percocet was wreaking havoc on my liver. My primary physician told me to get off of the Percocet. My Workmen's Comp. doctor changed me to 30 mg oxycodone about eight years ago. I take five 30 mg oxycodone now every day and it's been helpful for the past two or three years. My doctor will no longer prescribe narcotic pain pills anymore, and I can't find a doctor or pain management doctor who will write any of that kind of medication in the area I live in. How can I get off of this pain medication? I am disabled, 70 years old and don't know where to turn?
I need tips on coming off opiates. I've been on them for 2 years. I take two 100 milligram doses of morphine a day.
Re: FireBlasterdz (# 2)
No, DO NOT overdose on anti diarrhea meds to counteract opiate withdrawals.
Just have some for the week where you have the withdrawals, and a sleep aid.
The third night is the worst and after that it gets better.
For opiate withdrawal symptoms use Imodium generic loperamide hydrochloride 2mg tabs. 20-30 will do the will do definitely do the trick. Almost almost 70 milligrams of methadone and I take 20 to 30 and feel fine if I don't dose. If you take enough you can actually get her a lot of people don't know it's an opiate and if you take a lot it's beneficial for opiate Withdrawal symptoms
