my Dr prescribed Opana 40mg as alternative to Oxy 80 mg 2 twice a day which I would insufflate - I didn't tell him this of course. he claimed them to be just as good if not stronger can any one share about opana 40mg

I so agree with you, the opana er is a joke. It gives me horrible migraines and short of breath. It feels as if I haven't taken anything at all! I'm miserable and the ma at doctors office acts like a b**** like I'm trying to scheme more medicine from them! I wish these people had to walk a mile in my shoes for a day, have failed back surgery peripheral Neuropathy and 2 bulging disc in back and 7 in neck! Drug companies are f***ed! So are those that act like fools with medicines.

It is the thin layer that is like gelatin keeps people from breaking crushing or worse putting it in veins. It does carry a pain killer effect but is used for safety. It is so important that you never do break them they are a 12 hr release tablet and if you take it wrong it could over dose you

I have been on oxycontin 80mg every 12hrs for severe pain, my Dr. changed it to OpanaER40mg 1 every 12 hrs. Can anyone tell me if this works better for pain? Any advice is needed. Thank you

In truth our healthcare system (namely the doctors and PA's) is failing the "addicts" and "normies" such as yourself! Narcotic pain medication IS NOT INTENDED (or appropriate) TO TREAT CHRONIC PAIN! if you are prescribed and/or taking narcotic pain meds on a daily basis for more than three to five days it is doing more harm than help. Narcotic pain pills are effective for ACUTE pain. This does include acute flare ups of a chronic pain issue.

If you had severe Nuerophy you wouldn't care what your on for nerve pain try a severe tooth ache it's like that it's not your tooth that hurts it's for nerve pain for it I've been on lyrica had bad side effects past that there isn't anything for nerve pain so before you post a stupid flip message why don't you do your research I'm not diabetic

your info isn't correct, I'm taking highest dose of gabapentin 3200 mg, 1 @ 800mg 4x day. ;-)

I was also on Ox's 800mg twice daily
I am now on Opana 80 Mgs(2/40's) every 12 hrs and it really works well for me it helps control the pain I also take 10mg oxycodone 3x's daily for break-thru it works for me

I saw in your post that fentanyl ruined your teeth, is this something that is common because my teeth are all literally going to have to be pulled ( bottom) due to rotting and I. Have only been on fentanyl for about 4 years. I never heard this before. My doctor just switched me to opana but the damage is already done to my teeth. Something I never knew, thought it was just from trauma which is what my dentist said from a broken jaw from car accident 40 years ago

Well said I've been hurt since August since my employer didn't have workman's compensation I can't get the help I need n with state insurance they don't care I have a blown out knee n back n they only have me on two perk 10s a day because ppl abuseing these meds n it pisses me of

I've been on 80mg ocer 3xs day for 4yrs and was on 60oxir every 3-4hrs bid. Very high tolerance as I've been on pain meds 8yrs now. Many surgeries including having r leg BTK Amputation a couple of months ago. Im down to 20mg oxir bid 6 now. My doc wants to switch me to only 2xs 80mg er and in the middle take an opana to work on getting off the ox and oc... With a high tolerance does anyone suggest what dose I should ask for? Thanks in advance for any help guys! =)

I agree. I finally found medication that gave me my life back. Actually was able to work again bought a new car and getting ready to get my own place when out of the blue my Pain Dr did a DNA swab on me and said he was changing me from 100 mcg, of fentenyl patch every 3 days and 3/ 15 mg oxcycodone for breakthrough pain. I have been on pain medicine for 8 years ( first overmedicated was a zombie) that doctor died. Then my 2nd doctor actually is the one who got it right, only reason I changed was the 4 to 5 hour wait time. This last doctor was great for a year until this
Then he switched me from 100 mcg, fentenyl to opana 20mg twice a day and didiluaid 4mg / 3times a day which I told him I tried and it doesn't work for me. I had never heard of opana so didnt know what I was getting into, I started to detox after 2nd day so sick and the pain so bad lost week of work. Could not get my doctor because he only works Monday thrust Wednesday, when I Did he did not care. Thank God my former doc took me back, now I will never complain about waiting again. Thankful for my medicine that works

I have been on 80 milligram Oxycontin for five-and-a-half years my doctor switched me to 40 milligram ER Opanas and they are much better than the oxycontin 80 milligram op's... I was taking 80 milligrams of OxyContin 4 times a day and only have to take 2 40 milligram Opanas a day.. they work great for me, with my pain and I have avascular necrosis of the hips already have one hip replaced, and the pain is no joke but the Opanas are much better than the Oxycontin ever were!!!

If you try just Oxycodone without the Tylenol that will truly help the stomach out and it comes in 5,10,15,30 mg dosages. I find that the 15's and 30's work great for break thru pain and I am just starting with Opana's 40mgs. I also have consent muscle spasm's really bad and the only thing that has helped me is Soma's they are non narcotic and work great but most doctors will not write out a script? But it's the only thing that works for me so I get stuck not having what works for me because of people who abuse all medications.

You can take Benadryl for the itching. I use the Benadryl for itching sneezing or stuffed up nose.
