Since they are regular release tablets, it takes about 15 to 20 minutes for them to start entering your blood stream and have their desired effect. All of the medication in the regular release formulation is released at once.

The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
