Omnacortil 5 Mg Side Effects

I am a patient of kidney transplant. Since last one year plus, after the transplant I am taking the above medicine 5 mg daily morning. I am gaining weight. Is it due to this medicine intake.
Will it cause to increase the diabetic condition? Reason for prescribing this. What other side effects? How long I should continue this?

The FDA classifies Omnacortil as a steroid, it contains the active ingredient Prednisolone. It's often given after transplants to help suppress your immune system to prevent rejection of the new organ.

Yes, it can cause weight gain, as a side effect, along with headache, insomnia, nausea, dizziness and acne.

It can cause blood sugar elevations, so you should speak to your doctor about adjusting your diabetes medication accordingly.

You should continue to take it, as long as your doctor says that you need to do so.
